Square is the worst discriminatory app company i have worked with. I say this after recently experiencing being locked out of their services after transacting my first big transaction. Whenever i got paid $20 and other small denominations it was ok. Yes, “i should be broke i guess” Then i decided to transact a dropshipping deal and i even stated the taxes which i would have remitted. After taking forever to build a reputable customer acquisition campaign, they decide to ask me for documents that i happily send them. The next email i receive is we’re reviewing the account. The next one is, we have suspended the account, 1. They should have done this when i used to transact small transactions. 2. Is it that Its only for a certain race or a certain “type of client”? I’m deeply disturbed, closing an account without any explanation but sending me the terms of agreement which somehow i was already complying with.

My property maintenance firm does not do a lot of credit card transactions per year. I recently bought stock in square and decided to use their credit card services. Yesterday, a large customer of mine paid me over $12,000 in four separate invoices with his visa through Square. Square sent me an email that vaguely said I had violated their user agreement, without saying how, and stated that their review found transactions that were in acceptable without even bothering to tell me which ones. Square demanded that I refund the customer even though they had charged him the full purchase amount. This started at 11 pm last night. I replied back to the email they sent but I was sent an automated response that wouldn’t read reply emails through that channel. I logged into Square to get a customer service phone number only to see a message that my account had not been approved for telephone support. You cannot reach someone by phone at their office. I sent an email detailing the transactions and providing the customers contact number. After that I went digging online to see if anyone else had a similar problem with Square. What I found on the Better Business Bureau web site and other related sites was terrifying. Business owner after business owner detailed their horror stories of Square randomly rejecting transactions and even freezing funds for weeks and months a time. No one has been able to reach anyone by phone at Square and urgent emails are not being answered. I’m dropping Square as a credit card processor and never looking back.
Major flaw in reporting sales 1/5
They only record the sale after payment Is received. If you give terms your sales reports will be inaccurate and they show the sale on date of payment. Tried to report this but was meet with disrespectful responses by management

Time to look for a better solution with a company who know how to communicate Also they make changes without any advanced notice
I had no complaints about this app till today. They sent me an email saying they were deferring all of my deposits until I verified my business. I don’t have the kind of business that has been registered with a business number or anything like that. I’m not able to verify it so when I tried to reach out to square they only accept emails on this particular subject. You can’t call them without a customer number which you have to request. I requested one and it said I cannot call on this subject that I would have to wait 1 to 3 days for them to respond to my email. That is 1 to 3 days that I cannot receive payments for my business. They’re getting no more business for me. Moving my business to PayPal Here.

Insists on microphone access even though I have no jack. So I can’t even set up the Bluetooth reader. Stupid! I’m going to need to set up another payment solution before my big sale opportunity this summer.
Update: The Square team keeps asking me to change my review. They think I’m confused. I’m not. Why do I need fo give microphone permission if I’m not using the microphone jack? The reader is Bluetooth. I don’t plan to use the dongle for the old reader that makes it more likely I’ll damage my phone.

We are artists and have been doing art shows for over 40 years. We have used several different companies to process credit cards over the years and all of them have been complicated and expensive with a lot of paperwork and monthly fees until we discovered Square! It’s so easy with no monthly fees and you can do it anywhere! We recently opened a brick and mortar gallery in Inverness, Florida and bought their Point Of Sale system with iPad. I can keep track of inventory and sales and print reports. They allowed us to buy the register system with monthly payments and set up was super easy! I am about to add employees to it because they keep track of all that too! It also automatically adds sales tax if you want.
Emails have always been a problem for us...keeping track and sending them. With Square, they keep track of customers and I can send out a campaign in a few minutes with their templates! I can see at a glance which emails worked and who responded. I can work with the 80/20 rule and concentrate on the 20% of customers that are repeat buyers and buy 80% of my products.

I have been having the worst time getting restarted with my Square account. The 1st time I tried to reuse it, I was told I needed to set up which is understandable since it had been a couple years. Then I couldn’t accept credit cards and had to wait a few business days; ok, fine. But now 3 weeks later, I STILL cannot swipe credit cards to accept payment. This is the 2nd major sale I’ve been embarrassed attempting to process. The site is ridiculous to use for help and asks me to sign in 20 times and prove I’m not a robot. And then I can never call to speak with someone!! The system tells me to email and they will attempt to reach back in 24 hours only for me to get a confirmation email telling me someone will reach out in 3 business days!!! I have an event I need this card reader for in 2 days!! Unbelievable!

I like the Square App for the Tablet but I find a problem where when the customer signs with our stylus they tend to lean their palm on the corner of the screen. This causes problems because then the stylus won’t sign. The customer ends up poking the screen. Maybe if the signature line was lower on the screen or if there was a way to only allow touching within the signature field.

I would figure a large mobile first company like Square would care to support the most recent devices. The iPhone X has been out since November, and this is the only app I use daily that doesn’t support the new screen size. Get it together.

It’s good for businesses that are babies. Very basic things. I wish it could only live up to be on an iPad device. It is the most secure payment system on the market and you can feel comfortable never having to worry about chargebacks, but if you are trying to make money, impacting a lot of people, you are limited by the software that Square does not update, even though industry standards exist and could even be ran better on an iOS device. The reason why square will not update their software is incomprehensible. Our business has been with square since they started but will most likely switch once something better is released.

The customer service is terrible. I had someone hack into my account and switch my bank account information to theirs and all my funds have been deposited straight into their bank account. My husband and I have sent emails everyday trying to get ahold of someone and it is automatic reply emails we have been getting back. A person finally called and left a message but left me with an invalid customer code so I have no way of calling them back. If you are looking for a better option with EXCEPTIONAL customer service look into merchant express!!! They have been amazing!!

After reading reviews including my own I have found that I am not the only one that has had money placed on hold retracted from their account and nobody can tell us where that money is and now that my account is disabled I can’t even get a hold of somebody without customer code so it’s either embezzlement or downright theft I would strongly deterrent any small business or large business to use this company and their app.

I don’t like losing money to credit card fees, but I do appreciate being able to bill someone remotely. Using Square increases the amount of time people wait to pay me for services, and I have more unpaid invoices than when I required a check at the time of service. Square needs to implement an automatic late payment penalty option. Since the last app update, typing “Square” into my search for the app no longer finds the app, I now need to type “point of sale” which is less intuitive.

This was a horrible experience trying to sell something on their app. It took 2 weeks for bank verification and then the sale was never approved. Dont use this program! Find a different program that has better customer service and doesnt steal your money.

Square is an amazing company. Yeah they take a small percentage and that seems to be what everyone is complaining about but it’s great. Especially for small businesses. We never know when a client isn’t going to have a check or cash or another way to formally pay and square helps you keep track charge the tax rate in your area. Couldn’t have a better app then square!

Do not use square. They have absolutely no customer service at all. You can’t get them to answer you at all unless it’s via email. And even then they won’t answer you. They will deactivate your account without any explanation or warning. So many more credit card apps out there that are way better!!!!

Every day I have to wait for my reader to connect. Sometimes I give up and swipe the card or enter the numbers manually. It has become somewhat of an embarrassment. What happen? It used to be no problem!

I like square a lot. Latest update has made it so customers have to remove card before proceeding to receipt page. This is confusing my customers and they think they are done when removing card. It is taking extra time to get them to complete their transactions. I work special events and speedy transaction is the key to keeping my line of customers moving. Fast transaction equals more income for me. I hope you guys change this back.

Terrible issue with lighting adapter 1/5
Every time I connect the lighting adapter to my iPhone 7 and swipe to charge it always open Siri and when I unconnected the adapter it plays music ! Please update app or something ! If you are having a similar issue like this I recommend deleting the app and download it. It’s truly annoying time and time again.

This is app I unfair the just try to keep your money on hold or deactivate your account for stupid things they don’t even tell you what’s the reasons .. they put you in the tiger mouth and tell you go deal with your customer for refund and let them pay you with different methods.
Worst customer support they don’t even have customer support.. they have so many good services and they make so easy for you but in reality it’s so complicated.. there is only one way thats can help it’s public complain. -10 starts I swear
