Works perfectly for me 5/5
Have zero issues and can play my steam games on my phone while im at work. 10/10
Black screen on iPhone 1/5
It’s been for months black screen on all iphones I own
Doesn’t work 1/5
Connects for 10 seconds then crashes. Literally unplayable.
Excellent Application 5/5
Always been a big fan of Steam Link on all devices. I would actually do 4 stars, because Moonlight has a little less latency, but I feel like I need to do something to drown out all of the completely tech illiterate reviews on here. Most of the one start reviews are from people who have no idea what this is for or how it works. Why are you people leaving one star reviews if you don't know what you're talking about??
Pretty good 5/5
Not bad I heard it was kind of jank before years ago but it works so cool
Not quite passable yet. 2/5
When steam link works it works quite well. It is extraordinary inconsistent though.
Works amazing, especially with controller 5/5
By Hello Geno!
Absolutely love this app. The fact that I can play all my rpg’s from my phone with or without controller is wonderful (Works great with my 8bitdo controller and phone adaptor). I’m a handheld gamer, and its so great to have a handheld option for the items in my steam library that arent on my Switch. Streaming is great and super clear, experiencing no lag, easy to use app…all in all I’m so happy and very impressed. Thank you!
Better than expected 5/5
I couldn’t ask for more. The chain of my connection: Xbox BT controller > iPhone 12 Pro > 5Ghz > Ethernet > RTX 3090 > Steam Big Picture > Elden Ring > SDR / 1080p / 60 fps. No issues. Things like not having the latest firmware on the controller, not using a controller, using HDR, using 4k, not making sure the game is properly installed & runs on your machine before streaming, having no sense for DIY - will all lead to issues. I never had a use case for Steam Link before, as I am a 4K snob & want my Xbox controller, but handheld devices are perfect for 720/1080p and now I can use Bluetooth Xbox controllers on Apple devices. Steam Link UI is clean, intuitive, & impressive.
Doesn't work on Apple TV 1/5
Probably one of the buggiest apps I've ever used. It could see my Mac Mini but would never connect. Controls in the app were always non-responsive and I'd have to close it and restart it constantly. Do not recommend to anyone.
Please help ! 3/5
It is a good app but I connected it to my computer and then disconnected it and now none of my computer volume works, I have done everything under the sun to fix it and nothing works, please help me!
It works decent enough… 3/5
By small hobbit
When it does work. It keeps defaulting to a drag and click method, which isn’t terrible, but also isn’t really that intuitive with a touch interface. You can change this in the settings (the icon with the touchpad/mouse buttons; there’s a couple different options in there)
The real problems come when you try to play games with this. I’ve run into WAY to many where their virtual controller has the wrong key mapping for the game, yet there’s no options in their settings (and none for the game being played) to change it to the correct setup. Now, the controls CAN be moved around the screen, which helps slightly, but doesn’t change the fact that the key mapping is messed up.
Your internet pretty much has to be really great for it to work (or you have to be like me and play pretty much only JRPGs or vns) because it lags CONSTANTLY. I have pretty decent internet and it still hits lag spots every time, even when I’m only doing basic stuff (not even playing video games, either. Just sitting on my computer’s desktop can cause lag somehow when there’s nothing else open or going on)
Sound input? 5/5
I’m using a m1 MacBook. How do I use my headset or mic on the streaming computer ? Haven’t figured out a way to speak in game.
Does not work on M1 Mac if you have Hardware Acceleration enabled. 1/5
If you have an M1 Mac, there's been an ongoing issue with Steam Link and the regular Steam app where memory utilization will balloon and cause the system to hang up entirely. Turning off Hardware Acceleration is one solution but the performance is sub par.
By its buggy jfc
Literally the games.com as an app 1/5
As the title says
It messed up messed up my audio and I couldn’t hear everything I couldn’t fix anything at all please fix it
It’s light years ahead of its time 5/5
I love steam and their commitment to the community. Yeah this app is still a work in progress in some areas, but there is nothing else remotely like it (pun intended) and man Valve is just a very consumer-oriented company that puts out great stuff like this for free
Made steam not work on all devices 1/5
I tried to stream Terraria from my computer. It just showed a black screen but that's not what I'm mad about. I uninstalled the steam link app but it said I couldn't open Terraria on my PC because it was already running. I even looked in the windows task manager and it said Terraria wasnt running. I can't even play my games on my computer anymore because of this stupid app!
Horrible option 2/5
By Winter Glass
This isn't going to work for me because I no longer own a pc capable of running the games I bought on Steam.
I want a refund on my entire Steam library. I mean most of the games I have can be run on either Windows or Mac but devs just don't want to release licenses for content already purchased?
It took me years to build my games library and it wasn't easy finally deciding to switch over to Mac and the best anyone has to offer is this.
I'm not mad at Steam at least they attempting to solve a problem but these guys who created these games know this is an issue.
I'm just venting at this point.
By Lao Gui
I mean it’s a great concept but it barely works in my personal experience. When I first got it was just slow but worked, but nowadays it just opens up and after a little while the buttons don’t work and then I’m taken back to the menu closing out big picture mode on pc.
It’s great but laggy(sometimes) 4/5
It’s great but sometimes laggy. Not only can you play the steam games but you can play the other games that aren’t on steam. An example is Minecraft Java.
I can’t connect to my windows 10 pls add an update for windows 10 pls 😭
I can’t even connect to my pc I get n error code every time just awful
Works flawlessly 5/5
Literally almost no input delay, insanely smooth, low Wi-Fi usage. This is what every cloud service strives for. It’s like running your own cloud service off of your own Wi-Fi and PC! Great work!
First good, then stopped working. 2/5
The title says it all. At first, I was just thought it was the coolest thing (but with bad graphics), but then the next day it wouldn’t work at all. It wouldn’t let me move or anything. Maybe I just accidentally turned something on in settings, and it’s actually really easy to fix.
A bit buggy 4/5
Sometimes the mouse doesn’t go where you tap, it will be offset somewhat
Installing this broke mic and speaker setting for Zoom 1/5
I installed this to try on my M1 macbook pro and immediately after that the mic and speaker were "greyed out" .
Uninstalling the Steam Link didn't fox the issue.
Great when it works 3/5
It works great on my iOS & TvOS devices, but my M1 MBP crashes (the whole device) every time I connect to my PC.
Surprisingly Good 5/5
By John D.R.
All things considered the fact that this allows you to remotely control and play your Steam games from your phone is pretty good. What surprised me the most was how actually decent the latency was. It’s still not something I’d recommend for all games, but the fact that I play actually fine in a fighting game (on single-player modes at least) is pretty remarkable.
The only real problem I see with it is that there’s no touch controls. Touching your screen can only control your mouse. If you have a modern wireless controller then chances are it can be connected to your phone through Bluetooth.
It’s a neat feature that wasn’t necessary for them to add, but it’s available anyway and actually works pretty well.
Not for M1 MBP to M1 iPad Pro 1/5
Not able to set up 1/5
So I watched tutorials how to set it up. Over and over again it just flat fails. The best I was able to do is getting sound on my device but no picture. Researched, changed settings. 2 hours in and I don’t even remember why I thought this was a good idea. A real PITA. They’ll get this working eventually, this ain’t it tho. It’s a shame, I had high hopes. I have good internet and new devices so if you have a Mac like me, you should probably avoid this.
Impossible to use 2/5
I found this app thinking it would be really cool being able to play pc games on the go, however this thing is so laggy!
My device could only see black!
However this app was a great idea but it needs to fix the lag problem
Good thing this isn’t perfect 4/5
So in the last year I have found myself hopelessly addicted to a little pc game called Kenshi, it quickly surpassed all other titles in total play hours. I came across the steam link app and thought “why not let this game run my life completely, even when I can’t be around my laptop? I surely have nothing better to do.” So I set out to get this working. For those who don’t know Kenshi is a game you can essentially play on pause so perfectly suited to this very high latency format. It was about two days of being impressed by how nicely their editor lets you set up a control scheme, triple checking that I had saved it in every way I could think, and finding my setup gone on returning to the app before… Some glorious serendipity of overlapping bugs allowed me to recall my settings! I was off! Also thrilled to find that it is workable even streaming across town over cell. In fact performance seems inconsistent no mater what network setup I've tried, even with a cable in the computer sitting next to the router. However, it has always worked well enough to get my fix in various levels of blurriness. Unfortunately the app also crashes when taken out of focus and sometimes randomly. But still, pretty wild the ways we can waste our time these days, this must be meta. .? Keep trying valve, you are somewhat appreciated. Ken heads check my layout, I think it’s the only one
Like Magic 5/5
I recently had back surgery and Steam Link gave me the ability to play the games I love while recovering. The streaming technology is truly magical, transporting me through an iPad to the games I love running on my PC. I was shocked several times at how well it worked with controllers, keyboards, and even the Magic Mouse. I can think of dozens of use cases that don’t involve major surgery to appreciate the tech. This is truly fantastic stuff. I pray Steam continues to invest in this life-changing app.
Good with PS4 controller but touch unreliable 4/5
So this works great with a controller. I’m able to play pretty much anything with controller support over Wi-Fi. It’s kind of amazing how clear and responsive it is, considering.
The touch controls overlay is often wonky. Sometimes it appears when I don’t want it, now it’s not appearing when I do want it. I’ve never been able to use the gyroscope, which would make first person shooters playable on an iPad.
Why remote play instead of just being able to play on mobile on the app? What is the point of this app.
Amazing but More Instruction Needed 5/5
This app is more amazing than advertized. Mouse & keyboard support. It works outside the local network. Lag is hardly noticable aside from intermittent slowdowns. Obviously worse than ethernet but fine for casual gaming when travelling, even first-person-shooters. Mic input is disabled by default, and it took me awhile to realize I could enable it in the escape menu. I had an issue where the mouse cursor wouldn't appear in-game that I fixed by enabling num key control in Windows to spoof a mouse.
A little disappointing 2/5
This should have been really awsome, i can play all of my steam games on the go?! That sure sounds cool except theres one small thing. You need to be on the network the computer is on a.k.a you can really only use this at your home except what is the point? Why not just use your computer if your already home? Oh and also its pretty buggy it usally just doesnt work and freezes. If i could use this while im on vacation this would be an easy five stars no matter how poorly it worked but beacuse of it only working at your house this thing is useless really just a mildly frustrating novelty.
Surprisingly good 5/5
The connection is really good and the control support on some games are great! Compared to ps remote play this is outstandingly good.
What’s the point? 2/5
It works really well, even on my terrible internet, but I rated 2 stars because there’s not much of a point. You have to be in the same wifi network as your computer for it to work. If you’re close enough to you computer to be on the same network why wouldn’t you just play the games on your computer?
very pog but 1 problem 5/5
By unknown cause I don't know yet
I really like this and I noticed a few problems there is a requirement for the code to Steam Linked on the computer everything else is really really good (PS Pog means awesome) by the way there’s some people that are saying that this is trash you might want to help them and told them what they might’ve been doing wrong One of them said that they cannot even connect and it’s trash 1 have been complaining about you not having any pride about this you
should probably help them out of what they’re doing wrong so that way they can use this
Could never get it to work. 1/5
Used to be super laggy. I have better wifi so I decided to try again, now on windows 11, And the picture on the app won’t sink up but when i touch the phone or a controller it comes through on the pc.
Gamepad Driver Fail 1/5
Still hasn’t been fixed on Monterrey. Need some assistance please!
No support for resolutions above 1080p, doesn’t match ipad aspect ratio 1/5
Pretty useless app because of the resolution restrictions. This is not a network issue as I’m running on a gigabit connection with wifi6 routers. PC is connected through Ethernet, this is pretty much a best case scenario set up and it still doesn’t push resolutions beyond 1080p.
Great Expectations 2/5
I hoped to play my games with a controller from my phone, but Valve hasn’t fixed controllers on MacOS, meaning that your controller won’t work, the game pad update driver won’t install, and this app is hot garbage if you try to play a steam game while remotely accessing a Mac system. The M1 chip is great, unless Valve doesn’t care about it and neglects to fix issues. It’s been a year since the M1s release, you’d think they’d update it.
Blew my expectations 5/5
When I got this I expected it to be laggy and only support certain games that had the remote play tag. Boy was I wrong, you can run anything! Not only does it work while home away from the desktop, but I was able to play my ultra-modded skyrim during my break at work! It worked surprisiny well with no lag, but some big resolution dips over a bad internet connection in the break room. I use my Razer Kishi with this and strongly recommend it as the go-to controller for this!
Don’t work on MacOS Big Sur or Monterey 1/5
Installing the app on an iPad works. I’m able to connect to the host Mac but when the Mac goes to install an update it fails every time.
Please fix this issue. This app is totally useless for Mac users of recent OSs.
Need a option to use your phone as a 2nd display
Please support iPhone pro max larger screen 3/5
I would like to use more advance of my bigger screen.
