Very accurate radar
Premium now? 2/5
This app was great. I loved all the features that they suddenly just put behind a pay wall. If you release an app for free, you release new features under premium. Not take existing features and make them premium.
All the useful features are behind the paywall now 1/5
This app used to be great. Then it was okay, still had storm tracks, which I used most, even though I had to go turn on that layer every time I opened the app. Now that storm tracks are a premium feature, it’s useless. I’m not going to pay $20/year for an app that’s just okay.
Keeps me informed. Great! Easy to see what is or will be happening and can move around county to see other place. Nice work!
Check the site daily, really great!
It’s RUINED 1/5
First of all, I don’t ever write reviews, but felt the need to after what just happened to this app.
With the latest 3.0 update, the majority of the features that have been free for years, are gone just like that! No warning within the app, no telling us to upgrade to a new app, nothing. I have been around since the days of using Intellicast, then Storm, then Storm Radar. And with every new app, it has decreased in about everything. What I loved most about it was tracking storms that are approaching, the lightning strikes, severe storm alerts, and some winter ones as well (since I live in the MidWest).
Now all that is left is a crappy radar. If you want any features like mentioned above, you have to buy a subscription. Yes, I said subscription. If it was a one time fee, I might consider, but that is a slight might. But no, you have to subscribe and pay yearly for stuff that has been free for years.
Like others have stated, ever since Weather bought them, this app has gone to crap! My weather apps include Storm Radar, Weather Channel, and WU. I am going to be starting to use WU more for my weather. I might even try our local TV station weather app as they have the option to let me see approaching storms, lightning strikes, severe weather alerts, etc (all for FREE). I’m pretty sure it looks similar to Storm, but couldn’t really be 100% sure, but now I will check it out.
Used to be Good 2/5
Once it was bought by Weather Channel, it went downhill. And now features that were free (bought with ads) require a $4/ month subscription. Obscene. Ridiculous. B.S.
I have to agree with all of those who have written about the poor performance of the new app. The original version was far superior the radar was much quicker and held the storm clusters together more accurately now it’s useless and I’m very disappointed since it seems that many of these extraordinary apps are being sold out to companies that have very little understanding or interest in keeping up the good performance of the existing applications.

Siempre a tiempo
Very disappointed! Another money maker app! 1/5
Way to go Weather Channel! You have completely ruined my favorite app! I have used this app before TWC took over! You now have to pay to see everything that was once free?
I will be finding me a different weather app! I’m not paying for an upgrade to see things that were once free! Completely disappointed! I hope nobody will pay for the upgrades!
Where's the rain? 1/5
Sitting in our house and looking at your app and on it states we are getting dark green rain.. walked outside and in 200 yards got 6 drops ... What is your radar seeing?
Bring back the old Storm App 1/5
Like others have said bring back the old storm app. Much better. Where is the single site radar option. Also the storm tracking showing direction & intensity seems to be less frequent. During Alberto few storm cells had the tracking info, but many should have. Needs major update or revert back to original storm app. Now you have to pay to see the storm tracks. GOOD BUY. Find another app. This one is DOA.
I’ve had this app for over a year and just recently they took off the lightning strike indicator. Now you have to pay to see lightning strikes? Super lame.
Now must pay a premium for weather info that can save lives 1/5
Lightning, storm tracks and weather advisories now require premium pay monthly fees
Excellent graphics & content
What a shame! 1/5
I hope someone sees how many one star reviews this app has gotten since the update that stripped almost everything away unless you pay. Now it's just a basic radar app.
Upgrade cost 1/5
Wow have to pay to see where warnings and tracking of storms now. Guess the safety of people’s lives now has a cost. Immoral that’s all I have to say
What was free now costs 1/5
By xy z13 rm mm
Some items that have been free since inception now cost money. Icons for “premium “ functions are taking up screen space and can’t be removed. This app has really gone downhill since The Weather Channel bought it. Too bad, used to be the best free weather app out there.
Storm Radar 5/5
This app always comes through for me especial when traveling (GPS enabled).
Not happy! 1/5
Now they charge you to see lightning strikes. I will be finding another app to use.
It’s a great app, but takes a while to load.
Premium features do not work 1/5
I paid $3.99 for premium features on Storm Radar by the Weather Channel and none of the features worked after I upgraded and was charged in the iTunes & App Stores. The developer has never replied to my requests for support. A big ripoff and surprise since it is backed by the Weather Channel
Was 5 now 2 2/5

Used to be free and now wants $$ for any of the real pertinent information.
Malfunction in important moments 2/5
The warnings are getting frozen I cannot open the details since yesterday regarding important warnings including a tornado watch ongoing right now
Tired of getting screwed 1/5
I have used this app and I have enjoyed it but now they want me to upgrade and pay to get the same radar and forcast of the weather I been having since I use this app. This is a good example of the way this world is going GREED IT IS GOING TO BE THE DOWN FALL OF THE MORALS THAT WE SHOULD BE LIVING BY. IF YOU DONT UNDERSTAND WHAT SAYING THEN YOU CAN LIVE WITH YOUR GREED!
The Best 5/5
By Mimi from Mo
This is the best weather app . Very clear.
No so good anymore 1/5
Used to be a decent app
Now they want you to upgrade to premium to get features that were free. No thanks.
The original was way better
Take away features and make me pay for them? 1/5
By Al lew
What the heck? I now have to pay for features that the app had beforehand?? What crap, Weather Underground was way better.
Storm Radar 5/5
All the weather news in one simple and efficient app!
Going downhill 3/5
I just updated which should be called downgrade.
OK fine, you want me to buy the premium app so you put more buttons on the screen for premium features which mine doesn’t have. Fine to show me what’s available. Then as soon as I ignore it, get the button out of my way.
Make me want to buy by showing the better one, not by making my current experience worse.
How do I revert to a previous version?
Now trying to send and it wants a nickname and just keeps saying they’re taken.
The latest update took away several features and made them pay only. Then splashed the premium buttons all across the map to make it hardly usable. Time to switch to a different app
No longer good 1/5
By Brad HCC
Now wants you to pay for most everything since V3.
Weather underground had this working great until weather channel ruined it a while ago. Has crashed a lot and been unresponsive much of the time since WC. Had to remove and reinstall and still is poor...
Please bring these back: 2/5
The dashboard and The option to see frontal boundaries. Thanks.
Now you have to pay for layers 1/5
The Storm app has been getting glitchy. Closes unexpectedly and doesn’t open or load data well. Now they expect you to pay $20 a year for layers that you can get elsewhere for free. I’m in Florida and I need lightning data and storm tracking. I’m using Weatherbug and the local WINK news weather apps. They are better and free.
Best weather app 5/5

This is the best one to have!
What nonsense is this? 1/5
By Director Croft
I’ve used this app for years and loved its features, but after the most recent update 90% of those features are behind a paywall. Even lightning strikes are blocked. Who does the weather channel think they are? EA?
Easy to navigate. Good upgrade
From great to garbage!!! 1/5
This use to be the best weather app by a mile. Then came version 2 and that was horrible now there is version 3 and you have to subscribe for horrible!!!! No thanks!! Delete.
I liked WU’s Storm 1/5
I wrote the review at the bottom well over a year ago...
Today I went to check on a severe thunderstorm heading my way and they now want $20 a year to see storm tracks and all the other layers (lightning, alerts, etc. that were free in the past.
Very dissatisfied and disappointed with this. I have downgraded my initial 2-stars to 1-star. At least in the previous version I could get the layers, but just had to deal with a banner ad.
Here is my previous review....
I have been a long time WeatherUnderground subscriber, from web-based laptop, to tablet to phone. I subscribed to have ad-free radar and weather. Now this...banner ads at the bottom of the radar and seemingly no way to get rid of them...I screenshot radar images to use in my classes...I will not display any images endorsing products or services. I am not pleased.
Additionally, there are a lot of good things on WU that this just does not do. In displaying the wind, the animated arrows of WU give a great overview of the wind patterns (direction and speed), the fact that on a single screen I can use the customizable buttons to quickly change from initiate wind, temp, lightning, etc., along with seeing the week-ahead forecast.
Enough on that. Yes, this is a good radar app. Surely not everything WU’s Storm was. You should have upgraded Storm, not rebuilt it.
Bait & Switch = Delete! 1/5
Storm's new update placed most of their features behind a pay wall. $20 annually is ridiculous. I have now deleted all my TWC apps from all my devices. There are better and less expensive options out there. Goodbye to TWC!
Storm Radar 5/5
Is the best application for the weather tracker, it help me on keeping informed. I have son,s out of the United States and it’s outstanding.

poor replacement for storm 1/5
Crashes often when radar in motion
Please bring back Storm
Not getting any better. Zoom to your location, Run animation. Screen message loading... Now moved more options tp paid. Leaving app for dark sky
We rating 5/5
Was good until they decided to make you pay 1/5
Features were taken away and now you have to pay for what used to be free. I’ll be looking for another app. Sad.
Weather app 5/5
Great app lots of information, warnings, and radar
Revenue of storm radar 5/5
Excellent job. Keep it up.
Phony reviews 1/5
Don’t believe the 5 star reviews
Latest update removes functionality 2/5
The latest update adds a “premium upgrade” which requires a monthly paid subscription. Behind that pay wall are features which were previously included with the free app. I would pay a one time fee, but no way am I going to pay $5/month for this when the app isn’t even as good as the old Storm app was. Another step back... I may look for a replacement go-to weather radar app.
