Does not open .BIN files! 1/5
Contrary to some posted accounts, this app does not opn .BIN files.
Supposed to open nearly any file I want? 1/5
This program does nothing as advertised. Waste of harddrive space. Deleting the program.
doesnt work 1/5
Invalid Engine? What?! Nonsense.
I tried using this app because I heard about it, so I installed it to try it out. Then, when it got to the last step it didn’t let me even try to do it. How am I supposed to use this when it doesn’t even let me attempt the final step? Do yourself a favor and install actually useful programs like The Unarchiver which I have used for years and the only files it wouldn’t open for me are corrupted files and .exe files because a mac isn’t designed to open .exe files normally. Since it’s freeware I didn’t waste any money, but I sure did waste time downloading and trying it out. Complete junk.
Dates aren't being archived correctly with APFS/Mojave 3/5
"Thank you for contacting Support. Stuffit Deluxe 16 is not supported on the the Mac OS 10.14 at this time. This issue is reported by some users.
There is no details on a future version or Update to support the newer Mac Operating Systems."
This was just a couple weeks ago when I reported an error I encountered when stuffing something that resulted in bad dates being put into the archive (with Mojave on an APFS volume), and the bad dates kept being bad when unstuffed again. Unstuffing older archives with correct dates seems to be ok. (I don't use it a lot, so could be other related issues...)
Nikon to Mac savior 5/5

Did what it should. 5/5

Self extracting archives are buggy 1/5
By T Beyer
I have used Stuffit for years to encrypt folders into self extracting archives (.stix). To unencrypt and expand a .stix file you double click it and enter the password.
The new version of "Stuffit Destinations" 16.0.6 will create .stix files but if you double click them you get "An error occurred attempting to expand .... The structure of the archive is damaged (Error #17540)."
The structure is not completely damaged because you can drag the .stix onto the newer expander and it will extract.
The old expander will give the error message mentioned above.
I can't trust a product that behaves like this so will continue to use the old version as long as it works.
So far so good 5/5
I downloaded it to open RAR files. So far, it works. Interface could be a little friendlier. Opened the app, clicked on the file I wanted to decompress, then clicked on the destination for the decompressed version. Done. Possibly the developers could have done a little more with the user interface for people who don’t know what to do with it, but it seemed fairly self-evident.
You had one job! 1/5
I hadn’t needed to extract much else than zip files so never needed a utility like this until today where I needed to extract a .rar file someone sent me. I remembered the name Stuffit from back in the day and go figure, they’re still around with a version 16 product. I gave it a try and it fails to do the one thing I downloaded this program for. It said there was something wrong with the .rar file and couldn’t open it. Reading some of the other reviews, I go and download The Unarchiver and guess what? It opens right away with no issues.
Stuffit, you had one job. You’re at version 16! No time for you, the nostalgia isn’t going to cut it. Unistalled.
Doesn’t like rar files 2/5
Doesn’t want to open almost all the .rar files I throw at it. After 20 years, I’m moving on to different product.
worked for me 4/5
Had to download to use for some camera downloads for Nikon camera. It worked well. Don’t know yet if I’ll have other uses for it.
Worked Great! 5/5
I was wary after reading the 2 negative reviews but I thought I would give it a try. This worked fine to extract the nearly 1gb rar file I downloaded from the internet. It expanded the archive quickly and I didn't experience any of the issues of the other commenters.
Outdated version works better 2/5
I have used Stuffit Expander for years but the pervious version (<16.0) has not been updated for a long time so I wasn’t sure about comaptibiltiy. I downloaded this after reading good reviews online. It is slow, has graphical glitches, and has annoying bugs. I was decompressing several RAR files and it first asks to specify the location of where to put the new file. It “freezes” there because the buttons in the window don’t work when clicked on. You can advance the window if you press “enter” on your keyboard though. I also checked the box to remember the file output location and it never does. I just want something fast that works seamlessly like the old version. With so many choices, why settle for buggy software? I’ll try the Unarchiver instead.
Didn't work 1/5
I downloaded this app to open files with a .rar suffix. I have an iMac running OS X 10.8.5. I dragged and dropped the .rar file onto the application tile on my desktop, and followed the prompts to select the target location. The expanded files appeared at that location, but in grey, so they were inaccessible. I then could not close the Stuffit windows and the application did not respond to "Quit," so I had to "Force Quit" the application. An irritating waste of time.
