An excellent app 5/5
If you are a high school or college student you need this app.
It is fantastic! I was a math teacher for 35 years.
Absolute Garbage 1/5
By Rayden Creed
Functionality very limited, and apparently becomes crippled when challenged with problems that any other algebraic solver can do just fine...
$7.99 is a huge ripoff 1/5
Do not waste your time paying for this app since it doesn’t work properly. Photomath is free and the app runs a lot smoother.
Wanna see the steps involved? That’ll be $7.99 please.
Be aware, Ripoff! 1/5
I had a simple derivative problem and it required me to pay the $7 in order to “see the steps” once I paid it, it said it had no steps! Completely ripoff! I should have read all the bad reviews from everyone else before purchasing this app, I regretted it after the first minute I paid for it.
It’s alright 2/5

I use for problems I don’t understand on my algebra 2 homework. The website works so well for me but only on a computer. I can’t use the website from my iPad because it tells me to get the app. I got the app hoping it would work the same. I have to pay 7.99 to see the steps hell no for that I would rather fail. I am looking at the total reviews for this app and you have more one star than five star. Look at people review, fix your mistakes, we are just trying to help. Fix the app, make it like the website that i love.
I paid full price for this app and it doesn’t solve all of the ODE (differential equations)
Helped me pass Calculus!!
Dumb af 1/5

Why would you show steps on the website for free, but on the app you force people to pay to show steps. Deleting this app🖕🏻
The mobile version of Symbolab is helpful but doesn't show steps unless you pay $8 for PRO. The desktop webpage shows steps for free but isn't available on iPhones or iPads.
To all students: this thing is a lifesaver 5/5
I started this year struggling in math and having to ask countless questions to my math teacher since I was a freshman in a class of sophomores. I kept holding up the class and wasting time and felt bad about it, to the point that I would stop asking questions all together. This app tells you exactly how to do the problem step by step, gives the answers, and even graphs it. It has helped get my math grade up quite a bit and taught me how to do the problems in a way that makes sense. Five stars.
Comma as decimal mark 1/5
Doesn’t detect comma as decimal mark, are you joking?
Use web version 2/5
By Rabin bhai
App is very hard to navigate and doesn’t provide as much information. However, the actual website is much better and gives all the important details.
Worst app ever 1/5
By Emily 3557543
I downloaded this app to help me figure out a trig identity. However I discovered that in order to view the steps of the problem I would need to pay $7 a month. How is that supposed to help me? Don't download this app it will be a waste of your time.
Great App (A few things to work on) 5/5
By Ezekiel G
This is a great app for high school math, as a student in AP AB Calculus this offers in depth explanations, excellent rule reteaches, and the ability to check your answers. My only gripe is the camera function, I am working on a whiteboard and by no means wrote sloppy, however the camera to text refused to work. That’s my only gripe, great work and keep it up Symbolab team!
Camera would not pick up problem 1/5
So I not too long ago bought the app and the first day I downloaded it, i was testing it to see how it worked ( which it was ok but just a little confusing ). So after that I just closed it and said I was gone test it on a math problem later. So when later came ( which was like a week or two later) I tried using the camera; and it wouldn’t let me ( not sure exactly what it was saying because the app is deleted now). All I know is the camera function would not work and the app it self was confusing and time consuming.
Not helpful 2/5
By XD love it!!!
You have to pay for the app to tell you how to solve the problem. It just tells you the answer which isn’t helpful if you want to learn the material.

I low key got some of my answers wrong...wow
Wrong Calculations? 3/5
I don’t know but this calculator is incorrect sometimes and has many flaws. You guys should also have a more convenient type for equations and do not need to switch screens. It’s ok so that’s why I rate it a 3 star. 😕
Doesn’t work 1/5
I’ve been trying to input a simple derivative problem for about 15 minutes to test it out. I have an iPhone 6 Plus and am in good lighting but it constantly says that I need to check camera quality and lighting. It does not work.
Was questioning and skeptical at first then after using had realized wat a great tool and advantage it is 👍👍
Requires a colon for piece wise functions, doesn't have a colon. 1/5 1/5
Include what we need to input the bloody functions
Customer Service 1/5

In my opinion, the support team could use a bit of training.
Great Math App!! 5/5

Inconsistent with the website. 2/5
By Rhys Griffith
This app to me is a verification tool to see if you have your equations and answers correct. All I can do is check my answers or look at the process. But what I like about Symbolab is their website: I like how you can train, quiz and test yourself with math problems there. I only wish this app would also do that. That’s what we really need. That’s why it’s inconsistent.

I love this app
The LCD 3/5
Tia app is very helpful to me, but it does not have all math symbols such as LCD (least common Denominator)
Can I not use the website? 1/5
How do you give the answer but not any steps? Where is the 6 month trial? You guys are stingy
Don’t get this. 1/5
If you want something that can do this and more for free and doesn’t look like trash? Try Socratic. You don’t need to pay $7.00 to “unlock” the whole point of downloading the app. In Socratic you don’t pay for anything. I hope you made the right choice.
Sharp Knife. Dull People. 5/5
If you frequently miss school and need something to walk you through a couple of problems to teach you the lesson this app is well worth the subscription cost. For those who just like to know if they're getting the answers right when their teacher assigns only even numbered problems this app is perfect. Many of the low star reviews seem like people who did not try very hard to enter their problem correctly.

Most horrible app don’t stall it!😡😡😡😡
Great for coach potatoes with heavy calculates like me....
Why would I pay to use a calculator?
Can't handle exponential expressions 1/5
Downloaded this as a last resort for a problem I just couldn't figure out. Unfortunately it didn't give me the type of answer for the problem I was trying to solve. Had one job, failed. Wouldn't purchase for 99 cents much less a whole 7 dollars.
Make an app for the Apple Watch 4/5
I use this app a lot and I really like it, I really want to have the app on the Apple Watch
would be cool if it showed work, go get photomath it shows steps for free
By Miss Imformative
This app won’t give you back your money! I accidentally paid $6.99! The settings are absolutely horrible because I cannot find a way to get some of my money back!
Pls read before purchase 3/5
By Sicotic Scorpion
This is really a great app. I’m in perfect light right now and it’s telling me that it can read the problem bc of lighting etc.
Every time I try accessing the camera, the app crashes.
App DOES NOT Support Family Sharing 1/5
I downloaded this app to help my child with Algebra.
UPON READING THE APP’S DESCRIPTION FIRST: I paid the “one-time $6.99 fee to see all steps, to save problems and hide ads”. My child went to the family sharing protocol and downloaded the app that I have. The app is now asking her to purchase the viewable steps, download problems and hide ads for $6.99”!!!!
BUY IT TWICE?!
You already have my $6.99 ... you’re not getting ANOTHER $6.99 outta me. That’s just dumb. Who’d pay TWICE for the same thing??
I feel this falsely advertised the Family Sharing option and is a scam.
Not happy at all.
Bad app. 1/5
I regret spending my money on this app. It doesn't give you decimal
Love this app.. helps me a lot
Not a free app 1/5
This app provides nothing that you can’t get for free online. As of writing this review it just gives you the runaround until you subscribe to the paid version. Not worth a download.
wouldn't recommend this
Better than photo math because....... 5/5

Can solve complex number problems😍
Life changer for 3 years 5/5
This is amazing and with the extra features for an extra price. I have enjoyed this app for 3+ years now!
just use wolframalpha. it's 10c better

For the free version:
PROS: it works. The user interface is fine. For the questions it's willing to answer, it's answers them well. It doesn't crash your phone.
NITPICKS: The keyboard is... serviceable. It's a bit cramped, and two of the bottom rows have four different 3-page scrolling things (it's difficult to describe because of how weird it is). I can't give it too much grief for that, given how much more space a regular keyboard has over a smartphone. If you want big buttons on a calculator, get a TI-84 or something. Also, it can't do indeterminate forms? Maybe? If it can, I can't figure out how.
In the FREE VERSION:
• Ads. Every time you solve an equation, you get an ad.
• You don't get to see the steps, unlike on the website. It's a small thing, but it's significant.
• It doesn't work offline. If this is a free version only issue, then that's fine. But something tells me it isn't. You aren't downloading a calculator, you're downloading a thing that grabs the answer from an online source. That, or its to make sure Symbolab gets that sweet ad revenue.
If only one or two of these cons were present, I wouldn't have even written a review. It's the combination of all three that really grinds my gears.
- In app, it says that the $7 paid version is a "one time purchase." However, I've seen multiple recent reviews claiming that it's "$7 per month." If true, then the app straight up lies to you.
EDIT: Developer, thank you for responding! That's more rare than it should be. Your response, plus the confirmation that the premium version is a one time purchase is good news, and adds a star.
However, you haven't clarified the issue of wether or not the app will work offline in the premium version. It's a minor issue, but I feel it's worth the clarification.
too hard to find the calculator u need
