The Dyrt: Tent & RV Camping app reviews

  • Fraudulent charge 5/5

    By Stephigan
I was charged for an annual membership during the free trial period. I was not impressed by the app, Google maps had more information on local campsites. I cannot request a refund through the app store because there is no record of the charge. Shady.
  • Site availability 1/5

    By anomsm
I mean, a simple google search and I can locate campgrounds and RV parks near me. Completely useless if I still have to navigate to a third party site just to check availability and make a reservation. Why does the app even ask for dates of travel when it can't verify if the campgrounds shown in my search results have availability on those dates...?
  • Already loving it 5/5

    By Ofearth
I just barely downloaded the app but within the last 15 minutes of searching through it I can tell this is going to be a useful tool for the new lifestyle I am embarking on with my family this next year! We only have one more winter season in a cooped up overpriced “low income “ apartment with strict rules regulations no breathing room and a predatory tow company! I will be writing review after review of the different campgrounds we stay at.
  • Free roam 1/5

    By foxs118
With this app you have to subscribe to get access to features. With FreeRoam you can donate to help creators bring features to the platform, but there is no fee to access FreeRoam has a plethora of camping sites and regularly updates the status of those sites.
  • Good but Pro sub crashes a lot and reeeeeally slow 3/5

    By C-hol2323
Pretty good app but I purchased the pro subscription and now it crashes all the time and is slower than craaaaaaap.
  • Terrible scam app 1/5

    By Bruceleefan
If your looking for a crowdsourced list of secret campsites you won’t find it here, and would be better off searching ‘obvious pay camp sites in my area’, app is junk and terrible. Also be wary of their 1 week free trial, they’ll charge you for a full year at the end of that, which is their entire business model basically. You can easily get the charge reversed via Apple, be sure to do that if they get ya
  • Use Hipcamp. This App is a fraud. 1/5

    By NickieBV
I recently tried to use Dyrt for our camping needs. For one, the app is NOT camper friendly. 2nd) and most importantly, the available dates are wrong. When I searched for properties on a certain date, it said it had availability, When in fact it didn’t. You can tell who ever owns this app doesn’t have the camping vibe in mind. Please don’t waste your money. Use any other app.
  • Filters Are Useless 2/5

    By Chichi Goldberg
There should be a button to report these people if their campground is being listed under the “free” filter if in fact it is not free. If you do not offer WiFi, you should not be advertising your campground as having WiFi. Basically the filters are useless and you end up having to contact each and every campground by phone in order to make sure they are true to what they advertise, and 90% of the time, they are not. I blame the app because again, they should add a Report Button so that when someone is falsely advertising, the consumer can bring that to their attention and the person doing the false advertisement should be hit with a warning that their advertisement could be suspended if they do not correct the issue. It is not fair that people have to find out the hard way that the campground is not what they expected and it defeats the purpose of the app if I have to manually call a bunch of campgrounds myself to get to the bottom of what their all about. The app needs some damage control.
  • Good info but kills my data!! 2/5

    By Marcymarsch
For those without unlimited data plans this app is a no go for researching from the road. Over the last 2 months I’ve found that this app is using something like 1GB per hour of usage. I used it just now to browse 3-4 campgrounds over the course of 15 minutes and it used 250mb of data. Researching yesterday’s used 375mb. I can’t use this app anymore for on the fly planning :-(
  • Useless app don’t waste your time 1/5

    By dhdudueudijf
Shows you sites in an area, like thousands of other apps do) and does not show if they actually have any available sites. “Call to book” Completely fail to see how this adds any value to the rv community.
  • Navigate 4/5

Trying to learn how to use this app.
  • Update: Can’t access pro even though I’ve paid for subscription 4/5

    By Jen_Levin
I’ve used the free features of the Dyrt for a couple years. I like the app. I signed up for the pro subscription via my ipad and Apple ID to try it out. However, the app won’t recognize that I’ve paid or let me into the pro features. Won’t let me sign in period. Support hasn’t responded. So I’m being charged for something I can’t use. Get the app sorted out! A developer reached out and was able to resolve the issue. Enjoying planning our upcoming trip to Colorado with the Pro features!
  • App works 5/5

    By goody230
This app works, so many campsites do additional research to confirm all details. Remember there are a lot of camp sites :)
  • Had a Dyrt Pro subscription that disappeared…. 1/5

    By Natetrain1
I used to be active and helped do a ton of reviews. I purchased the “Pro” for a year then I was so much of a contributor I “WON” a year free for camping and reviews in multiple areas. Then Poof! It all went away and no one replies to my emails plus my profile was deleted. The app wont allow me to sign in and also wont let me get back my Pro that is set to expire in Nov 2022.
  • Unable to access pro features 1/5

    By ennuini
I’ve had a pro subscription to the Dyrt since August last year. It’s due to expire next month, but I haven’t even been able to use the app to its fullest utility for a couple of months now. It won’t recognize me as a subscriber. It was cool in the beginning, but something in the app has gone south and won’t let me access the features that I’ve paid for. Naturally, I won’t be renewing the subscription.
  • Access changed 1/5

    By Chey1921
App used to be free and now the best feature (filtering to show BLM land) is part of a paid version. What a loss.
  • Glitchy galore 1/5

    Glitchy galore
  • It’s “free” 1/5

    By I'm awsom
Don’t bother if you just want to check out the app
  • 50/50 3/5

    By GS-Money
No pictures or videos load? Lots of “extra” features you have to pay for that should really be included in the app. A picture is worth a thousand words….
  • Just started but seems really great 4/5

By Defender of all things Good
High quality so far. We will see!
  • Junk 1/5

Downloaded to compare to others and can’t even get past the solicitation to upgrade. DELETED!!!
  • HORRIBLE 1/5

    By Silveraydo1995
DO NOT USE. I tried to book a camping trip for the weekend, and the Dyrt took out the money of my account and the camping place was booked up. Dyrt did not refund the money. DO NOT USE
  • Makes Traveling Easy! 5/5

    By .dreamingbumblebee..
Planning a trip out west where we will be mostly camping. So far this app has done a fantastic job showing all options including first come first serve, dispersed, and paid camping options!
  • Beautiful but more uneven spots than most 4/5

    By Twenty Dollar plan
You look over the Fruita valley and the monument is breathtaking. We got a spot that would normally work for our 26’ trailer, but the ground behind the wheels fell away so much we couldn’t extend our stabilization jacks to the ground even with all our blocks. The camp host was great helping us find another spot. The new spot was still uneven but worked out. Time to buy more leveling blocks
  • Great but occasional inaccurate camp site locations 4/5

    By mac74739296
Really love it, but sometimes I think I found a great spot and then when I go to google maps the campsite is in an entirely different location than what the app showed.
  • Can’t load photos 1/5

    By Lovie✌
Haven’t been able to load photos of camp sites for a week now. Only solution given to me so far has been to reboot my phone and clear my cache.
  • Pro not loading after paying for it 1/5

    By peteswis
Paid for Dyrt pro and it’s not loading
  • Not a good app. 1/5

    By D9btown
Camp grounds they choose are garbage
  • App not responding 1/5

    By krkny
I downloaded bug fixes on 6/25/22 and app is frozen Tried shutting down iPhone and restart with same results. I have app on my iPad as well but they do not sync and iPad app wants me to subscribe to PRO version which I have on iPhone.
  • Very useful app, but very glitchy and slow 3/5

    By Apicturesworthathousandwords
Great app concept, nice interface, very useful information about campsites and locations that I haven’t been able to find elsewhere in such an easy to follow format, but is unfortunately very slow to use, almost unusable at times (and I haven’t even used it out on the road yet - I’m just sitting here in my house with fast WiFi). I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled the app, it didn’t seem to solve the problem.
  • Loved the app until I tried to go pro 1/5

    By The-Scottie
App was great for the most part, I spend my summers camping (60+ days in a tent), and was looking forward to going pro. I had a promo code that I couldn’t use in the App Store so I tried to use it through their website, I tried about five times and always got an error message and the account never turned pro. Seven days later my card was charged by the app four times and today my other card that I tried one time was charged. I got the charges reversed but not before my account overdrafted. The company reversed the charges quickly but blew me off. It’s embarrassing going to work an hour late because your card was declined at the gas station and you had to go home to switch cars because an app keeps charging you over and over for something it’s not even giving you.
  • Very useful, but wish there was a water/swim filter 5/5

    By KatMannDo
I love this app! It’s super helpful, especially since we just moved to a new area and didn’t know what was out there for quick weekend trips. I do wish you could filter your search by swimming and/or water availability since we swim and kayak, but it’s easy to figure out once you click the listings.
  • Good app 4/5

    By Gsantollo
Wish there were a few more ways in desktop to add stops on your trip but there are work arounds in the app. Good app.
  • Basecamp Flint Hills, Allen, KS 4/5

    By Ready2Cycle
Just off the Flint Hills Trail, it has nice grassy areas to pitch a tent, trees to hang a hammock, and two RV campsites. A small pavilion, unique outside shower, a porta-potty, potable water and a couple of picnic tables.
  • National Rd Campground 5/5

    By FR3 Doxie
Great little campground. The owner and family have made it a clean and comfortable place since we stayed a couple of years. Stop for a nite or if you’re visiting “The Wilds”.
  • 7 days free? 3/5

    By kswinc
The marketing says Free 30’days but when I download the app it say 7 days free. What am I missing?
  • A lot of information 5/5

  • Was good…until they changed it (now dead) 2/5

    By WeatherWarriorMedia
The app worked. It had zero issues. Sure, small improvements always good. But then…without warning, updates and now EVERYTHING I save is gone. I try signing in and just get stuck in an endless loop of go-nowhere. Like always, IT/programmers/owners get greedy and add a paid service that fuuuuu cks everything up. Tired of it. Stop the greedy and over complication. Simple is the way to go. If you don’t gonna start paying people to do the app better (simpler) and take your money away!
  • meh 2/5

    By ty.doggett
sometimes works but typically none of the photos for the camp sites load for a solid 30 minutes. not very helpful when trying to pick a place.
  • Dyrt 5/5

    By candaceleaf
    Very informative
  • Can’t use after app crashes in backcountry 3/5

    By Thugalicious
While using offline maps in an area with no cell or data coverage the app crashed and would not reload leaving me with no ability to way find and research. Dispersed camping information is limited and sketchy in the Pacific Northwest-not super helpful. Maps of blm and us forest was helpful while app was working.
  • Quality 1/5

    By W.A.L.L.E.Y.7
Information not very different from google. So why use this app. Maps function works intermittently and very few campgrounds with pricing information. I was prompted to upgrade to pro for over $30 at every attempt to get more information. I don’t recommend this app.
  • Great app, use to be better 4/5

    By nridmc98
I’ve used this app for years and have found some of the best campsites with it. I really liked the color star rating system it use to have. Made it much easier to find the campgrounds that were 4 and 5 stars. Also, the pictures never seem to show up anymore so that’s kind of annoying. Still a useful app.
  • Need to fix a few things 3/5

    By y14204
  • Way too slow 1/5

    By Trey Trumble
I’m not able to see pictures for each camp site
  • Trip Organizers doesn’t work as expected. 1/5

    By Neymar Lukas 21
Used a trip organizer and it force me to use to use a certain options rather than giving me multiple route options.
  • This app is Great! 5/5

    By Sofi 1998
Love the app! We’ve used it on a couple camping trips.
  • So close to great, but glitchy enough to be unreliable 2/5

    By MrGlover
This app is a decent prototype of an awesome app. What do I mean by that? I can tell what the developer is aiming for it to be, but it’s not quite there. Images are everything, but they just don’t load reliably for me. I find myself leaving the app to go research sites better using google. Sites. There needs to be more content. I’ve found way more places to camp using Facebook groups than with this app. Just joining a group in an area you’re interested in and asking people for recommendations reveals so many more awesome options. Everytime I use this app I just don’t find anything. And then I go to google and Facebook and and find something. I desperately want this app to be viable. It’s close, but unreliable.
  • App is too glitchy 1/5

    By Sweeney4568
It will make route that make 0 sense and when I try to organize them it won’t change so I just keep having to plan a new trip so my route is the way I want it to be
