Doesn’t allow you to change DEFAULTS in Preferences - forces you to use this app as DEFAULT for ALL 2/5
You can NOT in preferences change WHICH file formats you want the Unarchiver to automatically be default for. This is super annoying. All I want is this APP to default to .7z format files ONLY and leave everything else vs. taking over all compression work on my MAC by default.
Used to be great. 1/5
I used to use this all the time for archive formats which are less prevalent on the Mac.
The developers have now blocked off easy access to archive format configuration options to try to force you into using this app. Devs who do this sort of thing can't be trusted to respect my data and privacy.
Passed the first test with flying colors 5/5
By Lamont D.
I downloaded a OneDrive zip file that the built-in MacOS utilities thought was corrupted. Being new to a Mac, I looked on the App Store and found The Unarchiver. A few minutes later, zip file processed with flying colors!
It does what it says on the tin 5/5
Extracted error 2 .zip 5/5
the native archive utility could not unzip a file i got send and was throwing back an error 2, but this app extraxted it perfectly.
Until this version rar files were automatically detected and opened. While it tells me how to set the rar as a default to use the program to open the file, it doesn’t work. I’ve used this program extensively for a number of years but may have to go elsewhere.
Absolutely the best program out there for your Mac. 5/5
I've tried many programs for zip files, but this is absolutely the best program out there. I am very glad I am fortunate to have come across it.

Wont load in, loads in forever.
Wish it saved passwords 4/5
I really like the simplicity of this, but I find myself using BetterZip as the default simply because it stores passwords for future use. Still, a good alternative unarchiver to have installed. Thanks.
I downloaded this app and coiuld not figure out how to use it. I was unsucessful at finding a source to help use it. I'm not a compurter geek, but why is this the only app I haven't been able to work?
Multipart rar file support is broken 1/5
This does not work with ,ultipart rar files with name cheme file.part1.rar, file.part2.rar, ..., and it doesnt event give an error message, despite their claim of FULL support for rar files.
Can't change the zip file icon. 4/5
I use macOS 10.15, change all zip file open with it, but can't change the right zip file icon.
Used to Work 2/5
Errors on almost every large .zip.
You know there's a problem when Apple's Archive Utility out-performs your app.
Not bad, but... 3/5
By Monk Edsel
I downloaded this to unzip my old archive of the Adobe Type Collection circa 2000. The archive is split into folders alphabetically, with each typeface in it's own zip file. I wanted to point to the folder full of folder and have it all unzipped in one go, but this app requires me to unzip each letter of the alphabet individually. Mere tedium, but still. I also dislike the fact that this app's default state is having it's preferences window open. There is also little in the way of a GUI otherwise, until there is some actually decompression happening, and I'm not sure I care for that, either.
The Archive Browser 2/5

I have purchase Archive Browser for 1 year ago but now it not avaiable in my country Vietnam!

its nothing but a prefrences window that dont let you do anything do not waiste your time
Thanks for all your hardwork! 5/5
Thanks for all your hardwork and making this app free. In the days of everything being subscription based, it's nice to see a simple free app for basic needs.
one of the best unzipper 5/5
my fav app
Works great on singles but... 3/5
By Ross Dillon
Everytime I try to start unarchiving a second file before the first one is complete, I get an error on the second file that reads “There was a [roblem while reading the contents of “(null)”: The file could not be opened”.
When I have several rar items to decompress, I’d like to do them all at once and walk away, but with this error I can’t. Fix this bug and I’ll give it 6 stars.
Note: This bug has persisted for a couple of years.
Will unzip 2 or 3 then “cannot open file" 1/5
I have a large number of files to unzip. Select say 20, Open with The unarchiver, select destination folder, and wonderful, it unzips them fast… EXCEPT after the 2nd or 3rd file it stops with “cannot open file”. WTH! Select the file that could not be opened and it works. Select another bunch, same thing. Time waster, not time saver! Looking for something else that works.
Cannot deselect file formats in Preferences 2/5
I just installed The Unarchiver, and am attempting to set its preferences. When I try to deselect a file format which I do not want The Unarchiver to expand by default, it will not allow me to do so. It pops up a dialog saying "Set another app as the default app for selected file types if you wish. In smaller print, it describes the procedure to assign default applications to specific file types.
This behavior is extremely annoying. Even if I did not already know how to assign default applications, I should not be required to do so before I can deselect a file type in The Unarchiver's preferences. This behavior is enough to stop me from using the application. Please fix this obnoxious behavior. It is unreasonable.
Nice and easy to use 5/5
Very useful tools for unzip
Easy and friendly 5/5
It works perfectly.
Free and Fun 5/5
I am Iranian and I can't purchase from App store but I can download this useful application for free :D
Very slow 2/5
It's super slow to unarchive anything no matter what size it is.
No way to see what's in an archive! 1/5
All it does is unzip/unrar everything, there's no way to browser or see what's in an archive. I have many archives that are gigabytes in size and when I only need to retrieve one or two files I don't want to decompress the whole thing EVERY time!
If I'm wrong, let me know and I will change my rating to a five star... otherwise this app is basically useless for me.
Needed to unarchive some files 5/5
I did not know what app to use for unarchiving. I Googled and The Unarchiver came up the most. Great reviews and a high rating told me to give it a shot. Well, it worked and I am now a happy camper.
The best and simple 5/5
Unarchives "Libraries" (*.LBR) which date from CP/M and eventually found their way into MS-DOS as well. Glad I'm able to work with the old stuff using this program rather than having to jump through hoops!
By Viv C
It unarchives the file from zip to cpgz over...and over...and over... 1/5
And will not extract the files from the zip file. I've tried double-clicking, right-clicking and selecting "open with" - nothing works.
Actualización 4.1.0 1/5
Desde la última actualización me ha dejado de funcionar ya no descomprime los archivos correctamente :(
It’s not working? 2/5
I can use it on most files but it doesn’t work on any of my zip files. I believe all zip files look/are the same, but just in case; I mean the ones that look like little boxes that are tapped up (The ones that can be seen being used in the photo previews)
Simply and working perfectly 5/5
Well, I almost tried many rar apps. This wins them all through its simplicity. It does the job perfectly. i just wish there is an option to remove ads
Sneaky... ad placement 1/5
Now ads are attached to the window when using this application. Definately stopping use of this application and suggest others do the same. Don't know whatelse the developer added without telling anyone. NOT GOOD!
Sudently... ads. 3/5
Forced update, which now has ads. Granted they are for the developers other products, but I would gladly pay to not see them. No option I can find to turn them off. So, while still a good app, it is now anoying to use.
No funciona en archivos .bin 1/5
Lo instalé con el proposito de abrir un archivo .bin y no lo pude hacer.
This app includes unwanted advertisements 1/5
Conveniently after selling this software to some other company there are now pop up advertisements on top of the progress windows. This is a huge detriment to the quality of the software as I no longer feel it is a part of my OS and now feels like a piece of garbageware attached to my computer. I am now seeking an alternative and would advise others to do so and to steer away from this app.
Now it's back to being the best 5/5
I was getting errors opening 7zip files in the last version. Nearly tossed this app out completely, but the latest version fixed it!
Poor error handling 4/5
Been using this for years. The app works fine most of the time, but when something is wrong with the archive, the app doesn’t give anything resembling useful information about the error. It just basically tells you something’s wrong. What’s wrong? No details whatsoever other than it can’t extract. When that happens, I have to turn to the unfortunately abandoned UnRarX, which has a test function which tells me what’s wrong with the archive, such as a corrupted part.
Doesn’t seem to work 1/5
I downloaded this for the sole purpose of opening a .exe file and it says that it is unable to extract it.
I liked a lot, do what I need.
Handles the large zip files 5/5
By VFX Karl
I was trying to unzip a 10GB archive from WeTransfer and got the error 27, file too large…this app did the job! Apparently the unarchiver app that came with the Mac OS has a file size limit.
Extremely good and great support ! 5/5
By AC @ KFUL
Check this out. Just got help with a technical issue on how to unzip the compressed file current of PWs so they could be locked away in paper form. Response time was under 3 minutes. !!!
Try to beat that one. I’m really grateful for that kind of follow up and support !

The only unarchiver that doesn’t mess up Japanese text 5/5
By Peter in Japan
Since it allows you to set proper encoding for files, it can uncompress Japanese filenames and their contents, without messing everything up into garbage, like every other program I can find for the Mac. Kudos to the developers! I recommend it to everyone as your default.
It does not work 1/5
By Esteban AM
It does not work, I have tried like 20 times
