Not sure what to say... Just breathtaking!!
Beautifully Done 5/5
As the description says, the app is a collection of visual stories, rather like short National Geographic pieces. The stories are beautifully done and cover an incredible range of topics from around the world. I'm not sure how I missed this app until now but I enjoy it a lot.

Beautifully accessible photo-stories that are windows to the world. What's not to love?
Best as I have seen 4/5
This app has matured and has become better and more easier to use and understand. The commentary is well edited and brief. I have been using this app in previous manifestations and it was a bit clunky to use and lacked an easy way to know what each of the pictorial collections was about. I will definitely use this more, especially to get a closer look at stories I am interested in. My only quibble is that there is a subscription for HD.

Very good application..
So love this app ...
Wider Image - Reuters 5/5
I downloaded this app some time ago and hadn't really used it until recently, but when I opened it and came across the Ethiopian salt trade feature (which is excellent) I was hooked.
It's a fabulous combination of text and pictures. And they keep adding features such as being able to follow individual countries.
Quite simply it may be the best reason to own an iPad!
new interface = bad 4/5
By Beaver rook
i have always enjoyed the app. especially the approach of not milking the sensation. the new interface is mostly not helpful. i really dont have any idea of how to get new text out of this mess. i suppose it costs the earth. to bad is get the news to m
Nice app, requires subscription for retina quality 3/5

Latest update just crashes 1/5
Never open just crashes.
Horrible update 1/5
The update crashes on my iPad 2. It never gets beyond the logo.
Love it, but crashes often. 1/5
Could be a perfect app for consuming awesome photos, but its always crashing. Please fix, and forget the map feature, just use good old fashioned slideshows plz.

Thanks for sharing such works of camera artists
Great ! 5/5
Learning so much from this app. Beautiful photos, timely information. Glad I found it .

Loved this BUT... Update crashes! 5/5
I have used this app for awhile and it has been fabulous. Latest update has made it unusable. Why put out an update that screws up something that was previously working? Would have given 1 star but it "was" an awesome app before this update.
Update on review: my bad! I actually shut down my iPad and rebooted.
now the app and it's icon work flawlessly again, so 5 stars!
Beautiful photography, amazing news 5/5
Photographed news, I am keeping this app. The things I learn are things yahoo and msn don't talk about. Why? I have no clue. Glad I downloaded this app.
Installed it today, doesn't work! 1/5
There's a loading sign at the corner of the page but nothing happens.
Not as good as Reuters Galleries. 1/5
The images aren't updated as often as in Galleries and galleries makes it much easier and faster to look at the images.
This app is pale in comparison.

I loved this app, read interesting stories, and looked at amazing pictures... Until today. The update crashes without even opening. When it's fixed I will rate it with the five star it deserves
Hate the new cartoonish icon... 4/5
But LOVE the app itself. Just have to hide it in a folder :(
Super creative 3/5
When I first got Wider Image almost a year ago, I was very happy with this app. It still has beautiful photo images and is very informative. It covers the globe and provides information about some unusual and remote places. Unfortunately, their stories don't get refreshed that often. I still see the same old articles for months which frankly gets boring. Another thing is that Wider Image does not allow you to download or copy their photos( copy rights).
In the sad news times we have, this is a shining example of how to widen cultural perspectives in a creative and visually brilliant way….this is what learning about our world is all about. WOW! I just love this app. The photography is exceptional, each and every picture has such a high standard. The imbedded videos are so cool too (making Gruyere in Switzerland to cow bells was a really moving well crafted piece of documentary journalism). I'd so much rather see pictures and read a piece about Chavez in Venezuela on this app than ANY mainstream news organisation will provide. Kudos for such brilliant work!!!
I like the layout 2/5

But not enough articles, only a few new ones each day
So glad I found this app 5/5
What an amazing way to showcase such raw and talented photojournalism. I'm hooked.
Absolutely one of the BEST apps! 5/5
I am exceptionally impressed with the photos & accompanying story lines! Will be visiting this site alot!!
Beautiful eye candy! 5/5
This is true eye candy! It is set up in such a way that even the fingernail images are amazing to look at. I truly love this app and will most likely be spending hours draining my iPads battery reading through all the amazing articles as well as the images throughout!
I've been waiting for a visual news app like this. Award quality photography and compelling stories to match. Well done.
I'm visual, so.... 4/5
I love this app. Greta images, good story telling.

Awesome content 5/5
I really enjoy the photo journalism delivered on this site/app. Brilliant content, fantastic photos and biographies of the photographers. Highly recommend.
Quality pics and quality stories! 5/5
By Really is the funnest iPod ever!
I look forward to he updated stories here. If you enjoy slices of life on a global scale, you will enjoy this app. The photos tell a story unto themselves but the text behind them is often poignant and heartfelt. Current events are covered well, be it in westernized news or ( just as significantly) from any country on the globe. I often feel enlightened to the lives of far off peoples when I access The Wider Image. Install and be engaged.
Extremely high quality content. The app is well designed, easy to navigate, works very well. One of my favorite, and best, apps- and I own quite a few. Superb images and intense human stories. Brilliant- having access to this content is a gift.
Simply stunning 5/5
This is the best photojournalism app there is. The Reuters Olympic coverage was spectacular as well..but this is the natural progression of a great UI. Bravo.
By Nob Hill Phil
If you like photojournalism, you will love this excellent app. It reminds me of the glory days of Life Magazine.
Simply Brilliant 5/5
This app made me decide to keep my iPad.
creative design, but not enough content 4/5
Easy and beautiful to browse through. Powerful images and kaleidoscope animations. However, more pictures will provide a better picture of world affairs. Look forward to updates.

Each picture is thought provoking.
No more photos!?? 1/5
By Sheeple Herder
What happened? It's used to be a great app for everyone to view amazing photos. Now after update it says this app is now only for Reuters employees.
A "Look" at "Life" 5/5
Wider Image, via Apple iPads, has taken the place of Look, Life and National Geographic magazines on our morning coffee table. Wider Images' timely photos and videos provide quick, selectable glimpses of noteworthy domestic and foreign activity.
At last computers have caught-up with America's decades-old attraction to simple comprehensive intelligence - at our leisure.
This is a superb application-a must have 5/5
Using their large stable of amazing photographers, Reuters brings you the world in a way rarely seen. Rather than using pictures to supplement stories, in this app the photographs are the story around which the words are only there to explain what you are seeing. It is an eye opener. And the app is elegant and intuitive. This is a brilliant new approach to news. A couple of months later: this app still astounds. It's creators should be very proud of it and how many different ways it contains to reveal information. Not gimmicky. Pure elegance.
By Piccolo 778
Excellent! Proof that well done, lengthier subject coverage with wonderful photos is still the best way to do news.
By Michael Tang Lee
The only thing u need to add is the multi link to share like Facebook ,twitter and sina weibo(the Chinese version of twitter which has 400 million users)
Beautiful App 5/5
By Balamurali Muraleedharan
Beautiful UI and Excellent Content.
Way cool 5/5
I like reading the news. Always have. Not that I'm bored with the regular daily news, I'm not. The Wider Image is exactly what it says. It covers stuff that other news agencies just don't have the time for. If The Wider Image does cover a current case, it's not about the upfront info, but behind the scene.
The photos are a true joy to look at. I have several "favorite" stories. One of my favorites is about women who are in jail and have been allowed to keep their children with them until the child is 4. The original writer of the first story went back after 5 years to do a followup story. Fascinating and well done. It made me cry. Another is a man who is a transgender dancer in China. It was a story that surprised the writer and to me it was a story that showed me another side of China.
Get the app. Read the stories. Look at the pictures. It will definitely give you The Wider Image.
Great visuals 5/5
