Good but kinda buggy 3/5
Kinda buggy when transitioning between screens and editing cart items
Not loving the new update 1/5
By Not impressed plz fix
After the newest update I am no longer able to narrow my search. I use to be able to search juniors and then narrow further by selected the item type. I can no longer do this. Please change it back.
Where is the rest of my bag! 1/5
Up until now I have had minor complaints about Thred Up. Overall it takes 45 days from the time you ship your bag for them to actually process it. Ok. I get it. They are busy. But this time I sent at least 6 Elie Tahari dresses that were practically brand new. In fact most has just been dry cleaned. I just got my bag processed. Two items were accepted? Where did the rest of my clothes go? This is thousands of dollars worth of clothing. GONE. And they are in better or the same shape as the other items I have sent in before. I seriously believe they are stealing these clothes and wither keeping for themselves or selling elsewhere for a profit. I will be tracking other sites but know it is probably fruitless. BEWARE! if you don’t want to get ripped off don’t send anything to Thredup other than stuff that has little value. I wonder if there are enough other issues like this that we can open a formal complaint or look at a class action suit? I am sure I am just one of thousands who have had this happen. Thred Up you need to make this right.
I have been using threadup for a while now. I used to love it, but lately I have noticed quite an increase in prices. The prices have gone so high now that it’s not worth purchasing on here any longer. After all, all the items are secondhand. I’ll spend a little more and purchase new.
Missing the old way 4/5
By Winky 1977
I love ThredUP!! The reason for only 4 stars is because I was able to keep “my brands” saved. Ever since ThredUP updated, I have to select my favorite brands every time I search for clothes.
That review reads like it was written by a ThredUp owner. I sent two bags of perfect name brand clothes. I was paid a very fair amount for the first bag. But I was paid NOTHING for the second bag. Both times my items all sold lightening fast and ThredUp made a lot of money on my items. I raved about ThredUp in the beginning, but the story I share now Is pretty sad. I will buy things but I’ll never send another bag.
ThredUP is AMAZING 4/5
I’ve found too many things on this app. I’ve the deals I get and the quality of the clothes are second to none. Best deals around!!
I love thredUP and have found some awesome things on there but don’t always have the time to shop through the many items. I saw that you guys launched the goody boxes and was soooo excited because I can still love and enjoy thredUP without having to take so much time to sort through everything. BUT there’s no option for a plus size goody box. I’m in between straight sizes and plus sizes and it’s really frustrating that you’re offering a service that is not size inclusive. Especially since the way I heard about you are from plus sized influencers, like thriftthick and glitterandlazers. It’s really annoying to me that I can’t participate in this. For that reason, I will have to go through stitch fix or other companies like that. Really disappointing.
Terrible for sales 1/5
If you’re trying to sell anything here you’ll be wasting your time and might as well send it as a donation. I sent two bags of clothes the first one I sent a lot of expensive dresses and received $20 of which $10 were taken for shipping. Second bag I sent a lot of baby clothes I received $2. I could’ve donated everything to someone who needed all these clothes.
Sellers Beware 1/5
ThreadUp is a dream for buyers and a nightmare for sellers. I have sent in two bags with wildly different experiences. I sent in one bag a little over a year ago, entirely Free People and J Crew clothing, and they sent me back $53 upfront. Reasonable. All and all ended up making about $90 on the bag, after all the other items sold. Recently, they changed their system for how they accept clothing. This time, sent in a larger bag with all newer Free People and J Crew clothing, and received $7 upfront. I have a total that I “could make” as $30 for this bag. I would have sold everything elsewhere if I knew the payout was so small. AND it takes over a month for them to even look at your bag, and another 14 days after that to cash out your earnings. Don’t waste your time, there are better options out there.
There are some great findings on this website
Easy, breezy for great clothing at bargain prices! 5/5
Love this shopping site!
Started out great then like every other business went down hill for me 3/5
I have been a customer for about 4 months now I loved thread up when I first started using it free returns great price point and great customer service but now they charge for returns and price went up $5 or more on each item clothing is not something I buy online ever especially used they shrink, fade, damage, fabric type but I could do that risk free not any more I like to save money that’s why I use this site that’s the type of people that will use this site your getting away from your customer with the prices I will just go to my local new to you retailer or buy new I bought more when I had great prices and free returns now I’m very cautious about what I buy I over think it and end up purchasing nothing and the rest of your customers will do the same
Loved my experience and clothes were like new condition. Great customer service. Will buy again.
Terrible communication methods 2/5
This is a great app/site. However, I’ve been sleuthing and I’m pretty technologically advanced and still cannot find a way to communicate with thredup. There is no message center where you can email them and they email you back through your account. All i wanted to do was adjust the price of an item that they accepted and I emailed them through my personal email and never got a response. Then i recd a notification that my item sold about 10–14 days later. Too late to adjust the price. I opened the app and a popup said i had messages but then went to find the message and there is literally no place to retrieve them! They need to fix this!!!!! Ridiculous that I had no control over my item once i sent it to them and now it’s gone. Additionally, i can’t figure out how to get paid for my item. They want me to use the credit to buy more stuff but I don’t want to do that. Until they fix this problem and make it far more intuitive, I don’t trust them.
The more you know the more you hate! 1/5
By NY Pattycakes
To begin with I just received $25 for a clean out bag that they sold for over $250! Such a scam! Their clothing descriptions are so inaccurate and incomplete it’s ridiculous. I liked this site in the beginning until I saw these things and dealt with being ripped off and sold things that had to be returned over and over due to inaccuracies in the item description. Do a better job people!
Would never recommend to anyone. Their prices were always ridiculous on handbags but about a month ago all their prices took a jump, almost like they’re seeing what people will pay! So done with all their antics and unfair practices.Another issue is that items you buy will disappear and they just issue a refund with absolutely NO EXPLANATION of what happened. That has happened to me several times, once with a necklace I was really excited to find and after purchasing I get this refund notice with no explanation of what happened. Really POOR customer service!
Customer service 1/5
I’ve had a hard time to simply change my email. You can’t change it in the app or online. I’ve contacted support several times asking them to update my contact information with no response or no follow-up. I just tried to return items and the shipping label was sent to an email that no longer exists because no one has gotten back to me about my original need to change my contact information. It’s frustrating and seems really dumb to not be able to be able to change your email on your own in the app or online. 😡
Eh, it’s ok at times 3/5
I’ve found some cute stuff! BUT I try to keep going on for some of the cooler modern brands (spiritual gangster, green apple, any band related clothing) and they don’t seem to have anything on there ever. I need more selection but like otherwise
Do not sell items!!!! 1/5
Please do not sell your items to thredUp. I sent in a bag of clothing. Seven (7!!!) items were accepted for resale - and you know how much money I got? $2.08!
Let me repeat that so it sinks in. $2.08 for seven pieces of clothing which included a business jacket, name brand dress pants, and several name brand dresses.
This enterprise borders on criminal. I am going to write similar reviews on other websites so that I can alert more folks. This resale is a total scam. Please please please either give your clothes to charity and take the write off, or go to another consignment site.
Great work 5/5
By mining baby
I’ve had a couple of small issues in the past cause things obviously happen let’s face it .But anytime a have had an issue they are always there and ready to make things right. I’ve been a customer for a while now ,and I don’t buy my clothing at a department store anymore. I had lost a little weight and just wanted some good deals on clothing, so I tried thredup and fell in Love with their clothing . Great deals , and the used clothing is always clean , nicely wrapped in a polka dot sheets of gift wrap. I’m happy to say that I’m a thredup girl and very thirty shopper and I get original item that I never see anyone else around here wear .I just think that’s so cool. Check them out
Environmentally conscious shopping 5/5
By green shpper
I love this app because it keeps used clothes out of landfills plus I find great stuff all in one spot.
Was Awesome, Then Prices Jumped 2/5
I loved this app and bought and sold tons of dresses. Then a few months ago, the prices jumped a lot. Brands that were $8.99 (not NWT) are now $15.99. And they’re charging more for a used Macy’s brand dress than you pay new in store during a small sale. It makes me sad. Also, the measurements are often really off. eBayers do a better job measuring items. I’m bummed.
Love ThredUp!!! 5/5
By SG - CT
When you have expensive taste and not the budget or just want to be a financially savvy consumer, ThredUp is the way to go. All the name brands at a fraction of the cost! Can’t tell you how happy I’ve been with my new with tags and like new purchases, fabulous deals!
Almost there ... 4/5
There are only two issues I have with this app, the first one is that I am not able to use “Amazon pay“ on the app like I am able to on the website.
The other issue, and to be fair, this is the issue I have with most apps, it is not visually impaired friendly, I have a condition called Stargardt‘s which is a genetic form of macular degeneration, so, even though I’m only 30, I cannot see small print to save my life, so to use the app and get the coupons/discount codes that are only applicable on the app, I have to get someone to help me see what I’m doing since I can’t make the screen bigger like I can in Safari or on my computer. But, to be fair, like I said, it’s an issue I find with most apps, but, if threadup could find a way to let me enlarge the screen on their app, I would definitely give it a five star review.
Prices need reviewed 2/5
Jewelry is priced very high, swim wear is priced very high. One can buy many of the clothing brands online at Macy’s and Nordstrom’s sales for less than what is listed on this site. Whoever is pricing the items needs to rethink the prices.
I have sent items in to get $0.68 for and they sell it for $24.99 or more. I agree with some of the other reviews that selling is a rip-off.
Enjoy, but would like a couple more filter options 4/5
The only critique I have is that I would like to also filter by chest size and also material.
Update got rid of the “my brands” filter? 1/5
I used to be able to filter results for my favorite brands and now that’s gone! How is this helpful?
Best App! 5/5
A consignment shop in your phone! Have time to kill? Start looking around ThredUP! It’s fun, and you’ll look great in all the new treasures you’ll score!
Love to recycle 4/5
Great concept and kudos to you. One thing that would make the process better, show pockets on the pants or put in description, I have taken many out of cart for the unknown (I happen to like pockets).
Cleanout bags net you 5-20% of it’s actual value. 1/5
Be prepared to be screwed and in a big way if you send in a cleanout bag. I sent in a bag with items valued around $800 and I received approximately $60. The value of the cleanout items is around $400 for them, which is a return on investment that is beyond unreasonable and unrealistic. They self-promote their cleanout bags in a shady manner and will likely lose every customer who sends one in for the aforementioned reason. It’s ok to buy from but seller BEWARE! A lawyer looking for a reasonable class action suit would be well suited for thredUP. I am fedUP.
The payout and selection to buy is fabulous. On this app every day. Love!
Great selection of designer and casual clothing in all sizes. And, easy returns. I love this website.
Love it 5/5
Easy to buy and fun to find clothes right at home. Love love love thred up.
Loving it-looking forward to enjoying my new finds.
Yet ANOTHER Astoundingly Bad Update 1/5
Thredup certainly offers great deals - if you are blessed enough to be able to find what you are looking for in spite of their remarkably inept software. Don’t count on searching reliably - the latest few apps are intentionally designed to obfuscate in an effort to lead you towards less popular brands/items that otherwise no-one would choose to view. Undoubtedly, Thredup is still grappling with the issue of an overstock of unsellable items (further evidenced by “goody boxes”), and instead of getting wise and therefore more selective in what they accept to sell, is forcing shoppers to navigate past this garbage, like those mandatory aisles insides the front doors of some big-box chain stores. Still missing in this “update” (downdate?) is the ability to tailor your search by style, sleeve length, etc. Also unavailable is the option to auto-buy when an item becomes available. Overall, if you are a fan of Thredup skip/delete the app and just use your browser to access the website. You will save time, aggravation, and might actually find what you are looking for!
My Greatest Secret 5/5
I love this store! It is amazing! My friends all ask what is the name of the store where you get all of your cute clothes? Saving 20% by using the app for the first time just makes it that much sweeter!
I would give 0 if I could 1/5
DO NOT use the site thredUP to buy or sell your used items. I had some old designer items I wanted to get rid of and they had recently been popping up on my feed, I decided to give them a try. I even paid $10 for a return service if they didn’t want any items to send them back to me but they didn’t give me the option of returning any items if I didn’t think the price they were offering wasn’t fair. I sent them a large bag filled with great condition name brand clothing and shoes some still with tags on them, that they are now selling on their site and they gave me literally pennies on the Dollar. I got a check for $30 and if they sell all my items they will be getting $320. I will not be using them again or buying anything from them if they are screwing over the people that are providing them their products.
Disappointed Customer 1/5
I received a thredUP certificate/card with no expiration dates, no mention of promotional dates, and no other writing indicating when my code would need to be used by. I found a handbag that I fell in love with and put it in my cart. At checkout, the code was not working so I messaged thredUP via the app. I then waited, waited, and waited (over 2 days) to find out the code (with no expiration info anywhere) was considered expired. At this point, I could not even purchase the item if I chose to, as it is sold. I was offered a generic 20% off coupon (that anyone can use on their first purchase) for my trouble.
I made the mistake of assuming that thredUP was similar to other high end retailers that honor their codes without “unseen” stipulations.
Love love love Thred Up 5/5
I have been shopping at this site for a year now and I’m still in awe of all the clothes that I find and the price, OMG, you cannot beat the price! I always get compliments at work and they always ask me where I get my clothes. Now few of my friends and coworkers shop here too. I love that I find so many beautiful dresses. I love this site and will continue to shop. Thank you Thred Up for putting such great quality items on your site!!!
Great experience 5/5
I love this place. Clean out bags are awesome and the clothes and shoes are amazing
Overall A Great App 5/5
I do love ThreadUp. I do not think that their original retail price is always accurate, the inventory is not always great quality ( in regards to being “in trend”, clean when it arrives, etc. ), and neither would I recommend sending in your items to revive a FAIR amount for credit. The app is sometimes faulty with a few of the functions and could use some work, but I still do find some great deals through the app.
I enjoy the timer so it gives a chance for someone else to put an item in their cart and I love that by using the app you have 24hrs on that item, compared to using your laptop and you get only 12hrs.
Do Not Recommend 1/5
You would be better off taking the time and going to your local Consignment shop to sell your items. You actually get more money for your items at a consignment shop and if your items do not sell, you also can get them back without paying for them. For the 15 items i sent in, 5 of which i was given cash up front I was given $3.75. NOT worth my time, or money.
New to App. But excited to have found it for both sale / purchases.
DONT SELL 1/5
I recently ordered a bag to sell clothes and sent in lots of new and hardly worn clothes and two pairs of $100 jeans and only one item was accepted for a dollar. I lost money doing this with the 9.99 charge for the “free” bag. I am very disappointed in this and did not get my clothes back. I was really hoping to get money from these clothes, especially the jeans, and got nothing. Would not recommend.
Shopping thread up... 5/5
Treasure hunt , every time!
Absolutely love this site! Great unique items and easy to use interface!!! I am addicted!
Would not recommend selling clothes on thred up. It took almost a month for them to process my bag after I sent it in. I got the return assurance when I ordered my clean out kit so I could get any unwanted items sent back to me only to be later informed that all of my unwanted items had been recycled. Very disappointed.
Good experience so far 4/5
I’ve been using the app for a week and have enjoyed the ease of searching for things. There have been a few glitches where I’ll click on the app and the picture of the items in my cart don’t appear or I’m searching under girls clothing and a boys shirt pops in. Hmmm... I’m sure these are all things that could be fixed on the next update. Overall have had a good experience hence the subject line.
Easy to use 4/5
Super easy and fast to use. Problems — I don’t think the “condition” filter on the clothes is always accurate; it would give me clothes that were more wear than what I had in my filter. Further, there is a filter called “work” but it does nothing to actually filter work/professional clothing. Also, it would be nice to be able to scroll through the cart rather than going back and forth to view items.
Room for improvement, but a must-have regardless 4/5
This app offers a fantastic service with unbeatable prices and selection. The app itself functions as intended 98% of the time, but some minor tweaks would enhance the experience:
1) Customizing sizing according to the type of item would really help in finding items my size. I typically wear a size 4 dress but a size 8 in pants, so I end up with listings for size 4 pants and size 8 dresses that won’t fit. The ability to search under a specific type of clothing (pants only for example) would be helpful as well.
2) When selecting an item, it would be nice if I could click on the brand that made the item and shop other items on ThredUP from that brand. The only way to shop by brand as far as I know is by searching for it.
3) There should be a button that allows you to shop for similar items when you click on a listing. As far as I know, that option is only available when an item is sold out or in someone else’s cart.
I would recommend ThredUP to anyone. Great customer service and the app devs seem willing to keep improving their service. Hopefully they will find an opportunity to make some of these adjustments and make the app even better!
