Toyota Remote Connect App

Toyota Remote Connect, available on select 2018 or newer vehicles, is an advanced vehicle app that enables you to connect and manage your Toyota from any distance+. The app allows you to remotely lock/unlock your doors and start/stop the engine, find your parked vehicle, and set speed /distance alerts for guest drivers. Toyota Remote is optimized for your smartphone but not for tablets. With the introduction of Wear OS smartwatch support, you can now enjoy these remote features by touch or by voice command from your smartwatch+. FEATURES: - REMOTE DOOR LOCK & UNLOCK: Not sure if you remembered to lock your vehicle? Now you can remotely lock and unlock your doors and receive confirmation if the action was successful. Should you accidentally unlock your Toyota remotely, the doors will automatically re-lock after 30 seconds if no further action is taken. - REMOTE ENGINE START & STOP: Whether it's a cold morning or a hot afternoon, this feature lets you remotely start your vehicle to warm or cool the interior based on the last climate-control settings. The engine or hybrid system will run for up to 10 minutes or until any door is opened, the brakes are pressed, or the engine is turned off remotely.++ - PARKED VEHICLE FINDER: Locating your parked vehicle just got easier. Vehicle Finder uses the map on your smartphone to guide you to your vehicle's last known parked location. - VEHICLE STATUS & ALERTS: With the touch of a button, you can remotely check the status of your vehicle's doors, windows, moonroof, trunk and hood, as well as the vehicle's current fuel level, odometer or trip mileage. - GUEST DRIVER MONITOR: For added peace of mind Toyota Remote Connect can send instant alerts if your vehicle is started or exceeds preset limits on speed, curfew, miles driven, engine run time, total elapsed time or distance from a set location. Guest Driver profile can be activated from smartphone only. PERMISSIONS EXPLAINED: - Device and App History: This is required as a security measure to display a pin when bringing the app from the foreground, or do send notifications via app or push. If you block this permission, then the app will not function. - Location: Used to show your phone’s location, relative to your vehicle, in Vehicle Finder. If you block this permission, your location will not show, but the vehicle location will continue to show in Vehicle Finder. - Phone, Wi-Fi Connection, Device ID, Call Information: In Settings > About, the app will display your OS, device model, carrier, connection type (wi-fi vs cellular) and IP address for support. No call information is retrieved, but this is a common permission to collect device information. None of this data is transmitted to Toyota. If you block this permission, the about page will remain blank, but the app will continue to function. - Other: this information is required for the app to function and provide feedback to you. If you block these permissions, the app will not function. + Your vehicle and smartphone must be able to establish cellular connections. Smartwatch must pair with the smartphone using Bluetooth.

    Usually have to do the app twice to get it to correctly connect and it’s terrible that you have to pay monthly for the service. Coming from GMC. This kinda of perk was free. Love my car, hate this and Entune.

    Easily 2 out of every 10 attempts are failures to start for numerous reasons. The constant “please resign in to your account” is ridiculous. It is also annoying that you can only remote start your car twice in succession and each start only lasts 10 mins. With a hybrid in the dead of winter it is hard to warm up.

    Great for remote start! Love it for that! It is also very helpful when accidentally leaving the sunroof open (or forgetting to lock the doors). I did have another app with a Chevy vehicle that also told me how much fuel I had, the oil status, etc. which I do miss with this app.

    I can't believe Toyota is trying to charge monthly for an app that has never worked yet with my new hybrid Rav4. I've never gotten the remote start to work...EVER! It will lock and show status but it's worthless as remote start. Toyota, you can do better... So disappointed and I would have paid for this for the winter months. Sad effort here.

    I just got a 2019 Rav4 and didn’t even know I had remote start. This app could be could but the remote start is really delayed. I also keep getting alert messages saying my trunk/hatch is unlocked within a few minutes of turning off my vehicle. Slightly annoying!

    Can’t use Apple Watch App when not near my iPhone. I don’t always carry my iPhone so it would be helpful to use Watch’s cellular to control car but you can’t.👎

    My app will not work with my car. I just got the 2019 RAV4 limited and the app says it can’t connect all the time. I have not been able to lock, unlock, or start my car with the app at all yet. Please fix the app!

    Features are kind of useful;if you forget to lock your doors it will remind you and you can lock them; if, on the other hand, you forget to roll up your window, it will tell you and otherwise be entirely useless. Also, it logs you completely out of your app from time to time likely for "security reasons" or some such nonsense, but tends to only occur when you actually need to use it, the PIN it requires you to set up is meaningless in this instance as is your Face ID and or phone passcode. If that weren't enough it is basically for one user and one user only, forget parent & kid profiles to use the app. And you can all of this poorly implemented, lackluster functionality for the low low subscription price of like $10/mo. That's right $120/yr to maybe be able to unlock your doors with at least a dozen taps of your fingers.

    This app only worked for the first few weeks, after that it kept asking me to log back in and wouldn’t except codes etc. While I was told I had a six month trial with my new car purchase, I really only had use of it for few weeks. I was so frustrated trying to get it to work I gave up. No possible way I would purchase the service now. Toyota needs to overhaul this app completely.

    This app works when it wants! I’ve purchased this car in July it worked perfectly while it was under the trial period lol as soon as I started paying for it all of a sudden nothing but error messages. Call customer service for atleast 3 months trying to get it fixed nothing. I ask for a credit for the months it had been faulty but that was a joke to them.

    This app is temperamental and rarely works. I was so excited to purchase this vehicle, but the “features” are entirely making me regret my decision. Neither Entune, Remote Contact, or Toyota Safety Connect work. Absolutely horrible.

    I bought a new car at my Toyota recently and found that not only is this a subscription service but it worked for about a week before it started to crash. I scan my vin and the app closes. I’m not sure if I have lifetime subscription to this app considering the car I bought, but if it’s limited to a few months, and this is taking part of my time trial then hopefully I can get my trial restarted. I literally was able to use it for 1 week.

    Great idea, just ok execution. It could use a little more work for happier end user experience. When remote starting the car, give us the ability to see temperature status, and adjust temp controls. Like turning on AC or heat and setting the temp in degrees. And even turning on the heated/ventilated seats.

    I went to sign my car up with the app and it’s saying that it’s not comparable. Even though it’s a 2019 Toyota Camry SE. It has a push start, there’s no way it should not sync.

    I just downloaded the app to try and enjoy remote start for my 2019 car as recommended by the Toyota sales rep. I downloaded and registered, tried to add my VIN# but as soon as I finish inputting the last digit the app crashes. I deleted and reinstalled the app and the same thing happens. Very disappointing, SMH

    Two years ago I was looking for a new car and really like the Hyundai Santa Fe, when the salesperson said remote start was through an app that has to be paid for we said no thank you and left. Bought a Lincoln MKC and the remote start from the key FOB rarely worked unless I was standing right next to the car, then what’s the point. So two years later I now have the RAV4 and was pretty excited I could start my car from pretty much anywhere. Wrong. This app is awful, takes forever to “process request” which most of the time gives an error message because it didn't work. I will take my Lincoln remote start key back over this crappy app any day!

    I am glad I didn’t pay monthly charge. Slow response time. It takes a long time to retrieve.to start engine it takes 3 min on an average day but sometime it can’t contact vehicle. Very poor and terrible design by Toyota. I love the car but I wish I could have manual remote start for Toyota RAV4 2019 instead of using this app.

    The M-F setting sends me notifications 7 days a week. I turned off this setting completely while my Camry is in the shop and I’m still getting notifications. I love being notified when the car isn’t locked or sunroof is still open. That part is great. Fix the simple things, standard in creating an app that provides notifications and this could be 4-5 star app.

    I’m tentatively adding a star to my rating (going from 1 to 2) because reliability of the app has increased - I haven’t received an error in a couple of days. If reliability continues to stay where it is, I will probably come back and give the app 3 stars. I don’t think I could ever give it higher than that though because Toyota’s practice of only offering an official remote start as a subscription based item is pretty lame - even if you can start the car from anywhere.

    I’ve been driving for 40 years and for the first time I am leasing a Toyota and although I love my xse this app is absolutely the worst. It took me three days to get it to work after calling Toyota. Then I find out it takes a dreadfully long time to remote connect and today I noticed I’ve been getting “triggers alert” messages from my car on my iPhone for the past week telling me to access the app but I can’t access the app because it won’t connect. I suppose another call to Toyota is required and who has time for this?

    I was very happy to find this app thinking it would make my life a while lot easier. But I tried to set it up and the app said it doesn't support my 2019 Highlander. Just hoping the app gets a update to support all the 2019 Toyota models.

    Most of the time this doesn’t work. When it does work, the car only runs for 10 min. That might be fine in warm climates, but not where it’s cold. AND, you can only remote start the vehicle 2 times! What’s that about????? I should be able to start it as many times as I want. Stupid app. Don’t even bother with it people. Certainly don’t pay for this option! Just go have an aftermarket remote start put on.
