Would rather walk everywhere then use Turo again 1/5
My trip went fine but for my friend it was a disaster! I just got lucky and it is nothing against the host. Turo the company is the last rental car company I would recommend to anyone! I wouldn’t use them again if it was free. My friends entire California trip was ruined because of Turo’s policy and terrible customer service! We spent about 9 combined hours talking to Turo’s support team and got nowhere! If there was an option for zero stars I would have chosen that.

I love the concept of Turo. I love cars and used the platform to rent a couple of times when visiting cities like Toronto . Overall the cars and hosts are hit or miss, but still a net positive. However my last experience needs to be shared as it should be a word of warning for anyone considering using Turo. My final rental was with Adam Flynn. Upon returning the car to him in perfect condition (which he acknowledged) he started a fake damage claim against me. Turo charged me over $3000 in fake charges which they are yet to refund. DO NOT USE TURO!!

I started renting my car at the end of January and I have nothing too say but thank you. I have called several times and the support team answer every time day or night. They always follow up with an email and they explain everything in a very simple way.

The best way to rent car
As an old guy I find navigating the site to be a bit confusing. I don’t have any ideas on how to fix other than just keep it as simple as possible.

Used this app a few times before and it was awesome now they have so many fees?? I rented $40 a day old very beat up van for moving and I ended up paying $240 dollars not cheaper than a rental in some places!! One vehicle owner was awesome!! But he other car experience was horrible and turo charged me additional charges for vehicle does not say what for!!! I can’t use an app that charges all kinds of extra fees anymore!!! But I’m sure if your the owner of vehicle it’s an app you like!! Owner find ways to charge you more money at end of rental!! Car wash. , clean fee, late fee, additional usage!
Canceled my trip literally an hour before my flight and spent 2 plus hours on the phone to get another car. Things did get handled eventually but it put a lot of stress on me and my friends.
Highly Recommend, easy to deal with and we rented an amazing car!

I recently rented a vehicle using Turo while my car was in for maintenance. It was so easy to browse through the many available vehicles. I booked an small SUV. I met with owner at the designated pick up & drop off location. He went over the vehicle features and I was off. Payment was all handled through the app so convenient and less tedious than dealing with rental car agencies. I plan to use Turo whenever I need a rental car.
Challenging to figure out best way to communicate with car owner - txt or via Turo. Other than that - good app.

Great service idea and cars are great. Just tried our first. The only BIG problem to keep using this app is that they don’t operate in NYC so you have to go all the way to NJ to pick up/drop car. Yes there is a pick up service but it has a fee of around $80!! On top of the rental fee, so not really practical for people living in Manhattan. Maybe only for long weekend trips or similar.
Customer service was very helpful. The transaction was easy and it’s more affordable than a traditional rental. Also, better vehicles available.

1st time using Turo and I loved it

Long story short. Rented car with low air pressure in the tires, hit a small pot hole, blew the tire and hurt the rim. Probably would not have happened with air in the low profile tires. I guess I was responsible for checking the car’s maintenance records, dumb ole me. Yes I took the Turo insurance, didn’t pay anything, not really sure what’s it’s for...Going to stick with the big guys from now on.

They have knocked me from being eligible to rent twice and ruined two of my trips as o was expecting to be able to use this app to rent and suddenly I’m ineligible when I’m there. Their communication is terrible. Live chat doesn’t work. Take weeks to respond to service emails. Terrible. Terrible. Terrible.

I just recently took a vacation with my family for 5 days. Booked a classic vehicle I never imagined I could ever drive. But Turo made it possible. And Nathan the owner was very attentive and fast communicator. Made me feel comfortable through my whole trip. Will definitely recommend to friends.
This was my first and last time using this app. Rented a car that was not the safest to drive, after returning the car and writing an honest yet negative review, the host charges me for damages that I didn’t do! Clearly the host was retaliating because I didn’t review him or his car in a positive light and charged a bogus fee as well taking my review down. Beware of a host name ASHU if you use his services. Turo’s customer service did not help in the slightest. Unfortunate because this app has potential, but if you want to be safe it’s best to stick with the traditional car rental companies

I didn’t have a car for 7 months and I would just rent from Turo for a few days once a month or so and it was great to test drive different vehicles.
Every time I travel I use Turo now and it’s so simple, and saves so much money.

After cancellation by host give the customer a chance to review and report what exactly happened.
If you add length of book in advance time feature on the front page. (Availability)
Be more customer friendly such as, less fees, and less insurance liability amount pressure.
Have a camera on your app to take certain number of photo of the rental car, not to take by personal phone’s camera and then upload.
Less deductible in case of accident. What is he point of providing cheaper rental if you wanna charge arm and a leg for deductible.
Scam and extremely bad Service 1/5
As many others , I decided to rent from Turu. I made a reservation, paid for and Waited till it was time to pick up my car . So the host came pick me up from lax airport and took me to a parking lot where the car was parked .. so the same host drove me around the airport picking up more customers so we were late . We arrived to the parking lot to check in and Inspect the car. The app said “ sorry , something went wrong “ please call customer support “. The host also was getting the error message at that time . The host left me in the parking lot waiting till he calls his boss . His boss arrives and they checked my driver license and gave me a dirty look . They said I couldn’t take the car first , the. They said I can grab the keys go . However , at that time the Turu app had no record I was driving so someone could call the cops and report it as stolen . I asked the host Eric to take me back to the airport. He said NO ! He showed me pictures of the car I was supposed to get . So they checked and inspected the car without me . It’s like they expected me to accept and take the car and whatever
Condition it was . I called customer support, first they stated acting offended by my voice tone . Then they blamed my iPhone , then my Carrier And finally why I didn’t have a laptop with me . The host left me stranded in an unsafe , unknown and very risky neighborhood in Los Angeles at 1:00 am .
The Turu manager asked me
To stay in a parking lot for 3 days while they ran an investigation . They said not refunds but my bank said “ yes “ .
This company is a fraud and a scam .
Keep In mind, when renting from Turu you are on your own, on your own risk and there is not support from the company . They will argue back and forth with you . They make the customer look like A bad guy . Their rep aren’t even in USA .
Never again and please read reviews so you don’t have to waste time and risk your life like I did last night .

Oh gosh reading these other one start reviews makes me feel sooooo much better. Turo service is horrific, and God forbid you try to share an account with your spouse. 🤦🏻♀️ And then when you get angry because of their abominable service, they make it clear the problem is your anger, NOT their service. Do yourself a favor and stay away from this gaslighting company. Giving them a dime is a huge mistake.

My husband and I have rented a car fo a in August. Everything was smooth, we received a great 5* review. Here we are on another trip and wanted to book a car through turo for a day. We cleared all the steps and then we received a message saying that due to our insurance score we are not qualified to rent.
Nothing has changed since August and we have no insurance problems.
My husband has been driving for 35 years and has never been involved in an accident.
I also created an account and received the same message. And I too have never had any problems with my insurance or ever have been involved in any accident.
How can we have rented from turo a few month ago and with nothing changing now we are not qualified anymore?
This is very inconvenient, inconsistent and disappointing.
We went ahead and rented a car with a normal car rental service with no problems.
There is no phone number to contact turo and no immediate service support. They sent us an email with some number that has no relation to Turo. Whoever picked up the phone said they don’t even work with them and asked for my husband’s SS number.
Update: Then they solved the issue because we updated the payment method. 2 months later we trying to book a car - same issue. We sent all necessary documents and they blocked my account. Again - nothing changed, no incidents, no traffic violations. They are currently asking for past driving history for 7 years. It’s totally not worth the hassle to save few bucks compared to rental companies

Turo has an amazing valet lot just outside LAX which makes it so convenient to pick and drop off your rental. Plus Turo pays for your shuttle via Uber or Lyft coming in and out of LAX. What else can you ask for. The experience is always amazing with Turo with great staff to accommodate your needs.
Turo only cares for host but guest (renters) 1/5
I used to love Turo, it was great. Until I had THAT ONE HOST. I realized Turo only cares about the host not the guest. I had a horrible experience with a claim. I was blamed for something I didn’t do, I was overcharged for damage I didn’t do. When I complained on the host being an hour late to pick up, asking for rides, making us take him to fill up the car, giving us a dirty car Turo acted as they couldn’t help me but let that had been the guest being late or bringing a dirty car back you’d be hit with major fees. They don’t hold host to same standards they expect from the guest renting vehicles.
I love Turo! I save hundreds by finding rental car owners who will drop car at airport for free by using filters! It’s amazing!

Paid over $2,000 in fines over course of year was consistent customer and they disable my account even thought they were paid every time car owner made a claim rather true or not ... cool if you are the car owner not the renter !!!!

I joined Turo in 2017. Any problems I have they take care of it. It’s a convenient. You don’t have to go through a lot of hassle.
