After having used Venmo gor yesrs for typical small payments I decided to use it to explore crypto for the first time. Initially the experience was positive; buying and selling is very easy. Two weeks ago I decided to invest more money into Bitcoin and initiated a purchase of several thousand dollars to be paid from my linked bank account as usual. That didn't work for some unstated reason. I thought maybe I did something wrong, so I tried several times, with the same result. Then I received a message in the app that my account was blocked. What??? I received a follow-up email telling me to provide identification; no reason given. A week (!) or so later I received another email to provide yet more information, with which I complied right away. After another week went by without any response to inquiries about what was going on, I decided to sell my Venmo crypto and move it to a bonafide platform. Selling the crypto went fine; the proceeds were instantly transferred to my Venmo balance. Transferring that balance to my bank account however did not work... the app told me that this was not possible. What??? This is MY money! I contacted support via chat. After managing to gey beyond the chatbot, the Venmo rep confirmed that this was indeed not possible, and someone would contact me by email in 5-7 business days with more info. Seriously?? I asked to be connected to a supervisor; that was not possible. In the end the case got escalated for 'immediate attention'; but I should not expect to hear anything until the next business day (2 days from now). Meanwhile Venmo is holding my money hostage without any communication as to why and for how long. This is sheer unbelievable. If you are considering using Venmo for crypto, do yourself a big favor and look for an alternative!

Venmo deactivated my account over a year ago and to this day won’t tell me why! They say I violated their terms of service but some state where I used the app incorrectly. I didn’t lose any money but I lost my ability to use this app that I used so frequently before! Very disappointed in the customer service team and their lack of help. Just a bunch of robots. If anyone else has gotten their account permanently deleted for an unknown reason I’d love to know what happened!
Instantly transfers not happening for me 1/5
Terrible I just set up an account and I can’t even transfer my funds instantly. The system will not allow you to do so. They want you to make a standard transfer which will take up to 3 days to receive. If I have know this I would have not signed up for this. I signed up to get my funds out. I have a real back account. Something is wrong with this. I can’t retrieve my money

They falsely froze my account that I deposited money into. Causing me to not be able to use my money to transfer or spend. Told me I have to wait 5-7 days for my account to be activated back. They’re basically thieves.

I tried four times to link a bank account each time it failed. Even started a new account with a local bank because they wouldnt let me try again with my normal account. Im done!

I tried this app and when I tried to send money to my Venmo account in which it said it would take 3 business days so I wait and wait and nothing. When I reach out to chat with an agent the only thing he could tell me is that the system processes it and he can’t do anything about it then proceeds to tell me that the date you get it depends on how many deposits are coming through yet I didn’t read that anywhere or I wouldn’t have transferred the money. It’s not worth getting.

Keeps declining my American Express Card for payment and my bank states it’s not a problem with the card! Their test transactions went through! Venmo won’t tell me why it keeps getting declined. Same card I use with the parent company PayPal. I think they are trying to force me to give them direct access to my bank account! NOPE! Not customer friendly…

Love Venmo! So easy and convenient!
I had all the money in my bank accounts removed overnight through Venmo transactions that I did no make. There is no way to actually speak to anybody from Venmo. I sent an email and got no response. Their “live chat” is only talking to a computer that only recognizes key words and fraud is not one of them. It is a very convenient way to send and receive money, but when your account gets hacked, your money is gone and it’s up to your bank if you will be refunded.
We are getting tax for giving or getting money sad 😢

I have had Venmo for many months and loved it but now it says I have to add a bank card number to use it! Does that mean every time I use it that it comes out of my bank card?

I transferred 200.00 from my bank a week ago into my Venmo account. The money finally goes through, with cash app it’s instant btw, anyhow, almost fifty dollars is missing from my transfer without an explanation anywhere! I will never use Venmo again and will warn everyone I know of this scam.

At this point, I’m not pleased with Venmo. When a friend tried to deposit funds to my bank account it went thru as a debit instead of a credit. Neither Venmo or either of our banks have any idea what happened to the money. How am I to trust Venmo at this point?
