No customer support. I have tried to chat, email and call. The one chat service always tells me “ sorry I’m new, can you re phrase your question”
We checked in with the owner, I started getting a migrane from the smoke smell coming thru the vents. The heat upstairs was unbearable. We had to leave so I didn’t end up in the Emergency room. Now I’m out my entire stay.

I like VRBO for the many selection of properties, ease of use and financial protection, however, the service fees have, in my estimation, become too exorbitant.

I rented a very expensive property only to find out it was a scam. I have spent countless hours on the phone w Vrbo as i haven’t received the security deposit and they charged us an astronomical amount even though we left the property right away.
Vrbos response to this was that they are a marketing company and that we have to go through the property manager.. aka the crook.
Never been so sickened by a company that won’t protect their customers.

We have used Home Away, now VBRO for about 5-6 years and we have never encountered a bad experience. You must do your due diligence and send questions to some of the owners who are always receptive. Love it!
Inaccurate description and filthy 1/5
Just left the rental today and can’t tell you how disappointed we were with the property. Boasted A/C but per the owners note they are broken. 90* in Pagosa springs. Unacceptable they knew they were broken but did not disclose until you arrive and they put a note next to one. And filthy massive amount of hair on top of the shower drain. Prior guest used towels hung up behind the bathroom door. The kitchen had a tea maker that still had tea in it from previous guests. The freezer was full of food. Could only fit a bag of ice in it. I am now suspect of VRBO having any standards for their owners. As renters we are screwed with misrepresentation.
Your website filters do not work. I had to look at ten to to twenty times the properties I was interested in. I wanted property under 230.00 per day and most were 300 to 400. I wanted a balcony and many did not have one. It was am very aggravating experience.

Highly recommend not using VRBO. They screw up and don’t take care of their customers. They will try to keep money that they are supposed to refund (taxes and service fees) if you let them. The customer service manager I talked to was rude and condescending. Will not use again.
Edit: VRBO’s response is generic and lies. They don’t care about you as a customer! If they cared they would have followed back up and tried to rectify the situation. Still waiting on my refund for the money they tried stealing from me. Garbage company!

The first thing you notice when entering is the filthy porch. Mud all over the porch and the tables and chais were so filthy you could not sit in them without trying to clean them. A water hose would have been nice but one was not available. It is impossible to take a decent shower. The shower curtains adhere to your body as you TRY to shower. There was no tv for the kids and the internet was very weak. It was quiet and private but I sought we will stay there again.

User friendly design but the app has performance issues with the messaging and loading trips. I have had to try closing and reopening the app multiple times for it to work. A message I sent to my host never made it to them. Please address these issues ASAP.

This is the 4th time I have booked through VRBO and I have not been disappointed once. The process is very easy and I always feel confident using it. Haven’t even gotten to the 4th location yet and already looking forward to the next trip
My host forced me to cancel my booking by saying that VRBO double booked my rental. I made the reservation in May for the fourth of July weekend and the host asked me to cancel in June. VRBO could not help in any way and I had already taken days off of work and then my whole trip got cancelled less than a month before I was supposed to go. The host was balming VRBO and VRBO was blaming the host. I can't trust VRBO after this insanity.

I have had good experiences using Homeaway, now VRBO. My only complaint is that now that it is VRBO, the app gives me an error and will not allow me to leave a Trip review. I had to use my browser in order to leave a Trip review. I engaged VRBO on Twitter to to try to resolve it, but they were not able to fix the problem. The App should function properly and allow me to leave a Trip review.

One of the worst customer service experiences I’ve ever seen. Cant fix a complaint. Just keeps responding that they will handle it shortly. Then tries to blame me the customer for it not being handled because they have too many properties to manage.
Would never recommend using this company. You are just a paycheck. They don’t care if you have an enjoyable experience or not.

Second time booking my trip. So far they beat some prices from Airbnb. Also, I like Laura from the Florence condo. She so helpful and offers decent price. Thank you Laura and Vrbo!
Last minute cancellation 1/5
We had a tripped planned to Alaska and they canceled our reservation and now we have flights up there but may not able to go because there is no availability. I would not recommend as they can just cancel when they want with no help.

I got my room cancelled 5 minutes before I checked in. I tried calling Vrbo and I waited on the line for over an hour. When I did get in, I got cut off. I was stuck without a room that I booked months in advance.

I wouldn’t not recommend using this site. For the same price with more options you can use many other site. I booked this site and within a few hours my daughter want to bring an extra family friend with us so we started looking at a bigger place.
I found another from VRBO and wanted to exchange our reservation not canceled it just exchanged. They wanted to keep 50% of the money that we paid for the smaller place and not credit it to our next place. WHININ A FEW HOURS!! who’s does that?
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! There are many flexibility on other sites for the same price more options.

I used to rent a place through the owner. Nice place, nice owner, then they moved their rentals to VRBO…. Cleaning fee $800!!! Admin fee, booking fee. Etc. They are just expensive. I rent from as many owners as I can can, but some times you have to use these scalpers

Trying to book a room before our rafting trip and owner of rooms won’t disclose the exact location until we book it? Kinda shady!? Some people need to make plans and need locations. No reviews on the property or listing? Hmmmm.....suspect!
I just tried to use the app and there are no filters on the search for things like “pets allowed”. Then I look at two reviews that talk about zero customer service. You’d have to be in Q-Anon to use this service.
BTW, the bad reviews I saw had 5*. I doubt the posters gave 5* to scathing reviews.

My daughter has used VRBO several times so when we told her we were planning a trip she highly recommended going through this service to book our accommodations. We could not have been happier with our little cottage in Waco Texas. Maggie was an awesome host and she thought of everything to make our stay exceptional. If you are ever planning a trip to Magnolia The Barnett, a cozy little cottage on 22nd street would be worth your while to check out. Thanks so much Maggie!

Don’t get me wrong it’s a nice app BUT I think it needs to look at the AirBnB app. Like how to check in, all the amenities and various other things that would make the app easier to navigate to give more information on the property you are looking to rent.

just by reading the reviews and how the the app developer or whoever responds to the reviews is replying you can automatically tell this app has bad customer service. Unlike many other apps where the response is directed to address the problem, this app just says “Sorry to hear that…” or “Sorry for the inconvenience…” and adds the customer support line that the customer is obviously complaining about.

VRBO charged me a $300 service fee for a booking that was cancelled weeks ago within the appropriate timeframe and was not charged for. I am still waiting for the refund of the VRBO fee. Every time I call the wait time is like 40+minutes and the chat function on the app is no better; just got an estimated 36 min wait time to chat with someone. I shouldn’t have to repeatedly attempt to contact them to try to get this refund issued which is supposed to be automatic. Bad customer service, just beware… and they’ll tell you to use their “contact” function on their website which is useless.
The best and easiest booking site I have ever used. Have used them for all of our trips the last 4 years and will never use another

VRBO is great when it’s great, but don’t count on support if there are problems. We’ve had a host cancel our reservation and refuse to return our money. After 8 calls to customer support(reps hung up on me twice), I’m still no closer to resolution. Wait time is 20 minutes. Each time I have to explain everything over again, despite the fact all is documented with case number. Then the rep agrees I am due a refund, and they will email host and “escalate” the issue. And then nothing happens. And there is no next level, no manager you can talk to. I’m just glad this wasn’t the kind of issue that found us far from home with nowhere to stay.

I went to make a Reservation with VRBO. Booked a place in New York City. Once I was booked the Host (SONDER) sent me a confirmation of the stay with a New orleans, LA address. Spoke with 3 different agents with Sonder, decided to Cancel the reservation after waiting 3 days without a response. By the way, good luck attempting to call VRBO… they don’t answer the phone.

Last night I sent a request for a military discount. When I opened the app today I received a late payment notice. I never booked this reservation but was waiting for a response from the home owner.
I proceeded to make the payment and my phone number kept coming incorrectly. It kept cutting of the first 2 digits off my number and it didn’t recognize I was from the US. App is very buggy right now!!!!!!!!!!

When you decline the trip insurance, it states “I want to leave my xxx$ trip unprotected. Really? No, I just don’t want to pay an exorbitant fee for something that you would vigorously refuse to pay on some made up ground if I ever filed a claim.

It is insane that you must pay in full the cost of the trip before you even check in. Customarily when you stay overnight somewhere you pay at check out. I understand there must be something paid upfront but the owners won’t answer questions until you’ve paid in full which is ridiculous! You don’t pay for dinner before you eat at a restaurant and you don’t pay for your hotel before checking out. Basically, there is absolutely no leverage for the person booking the trip to motivate the property owners to deliver on a service quality. That’s very disappointing and policy must be changed in a time when total satisfaction is so encouraged and promoted in business. I have rental properties and that is the first thing that my tenants have to say about my properties. Before they mention the top quality properties they are given whenever a tenants moves out I always have my tenants to list as a reference for the top level service of the management which is me!
