    We booked a reservation in VRBO but and ended up dealing with a place called Vacasa who are absolutely terrible to deal with. Absolutely no communication from VRBO. Horrible experience!

    I spoke with 6 representatives, all calls dropped and not 1 representative called back even though they asked and I provided a call back number. Our stay was horrible. No towels were provided (although it said towels were provided on the booking, unit was not cleaned (sink was clogged and full of dirty water upon arrival, and there was build up of dust on furniture indicating it had not been cleaned in a long time), unit REEKED of marijuana/smoke (although it said no smoking), and roaches in the kitchen. I supplied pictures, contacted the host, contacted customer service and absolutely no one resolved the issues. Sink is still clogged, no bath towels provided, and unresponsive host. Instead we were asked by customer service to go out and buy cleaning supplies and clean the unit ourselves, they would not provide us a refund for our stay or move us to a different VRBO, and in order for us to get a refund we would have to take a picture of 1-3 roaches to consider the unit “infested” never again will I book with VRBO. Hotels and Airbnbs from here on out.

    Don’t every go there , no communication at all . I went to the place didn’t have no key . Tried to called and no answer , after I called about an hour later the man picked up the phone and said that the place should never been rented. It was my wife birthday so we told the guy where is our money he said he was going to get in contact with the company that rented us the place. Thank god me and my wife had money so we could enjoy her birthday . Please do not rent from this man . It’s not fair you work so hard to make money, and people prey to sham people . It was the worse experience in my life .

    I booked a place last month, since then I hurricane hit the state of Florida and I needed to refund. The property owner agreed, but the employees at Vrbo are like robots. All the do is read from a script. Took me 10 phone calls to get just a parcel refund. I had to contact the property owner and have her call Vrbo to get the rest of my refund. Get people that speak English to work for you please!

    VRBO would not even send an investigator out to the property I rented for 4 days in August… a review from another woman was hidden from me! The home was said to be fully restored fully remolded.. it was built in 1860… nothing was restored.. it is a fire waiting to happen… the mold can be smelled when entering the place. I have never been soo afraid in my life as it appeared someone else was there.. the man that I hired bring me from the airport was afraid and he didn’t even come in the place… Be aware.. follow through on EVERYTHING! They are advertising these homes under false pretenses and I just pray no one burns to death in one of their properties … I want this home taken off this APP ASAP!! Why would you risk injuring a child?! A review I seen for a moment as clearly reviews aren’t shown prior to renting. One man said the floors were about to fall in.. I felt the same. Refund all the money take this disaster off this site PLEASE!!!

    Vrbo as a company is an absolute scam. Do yourself a favor and use AirBnB or another rental company. I have an issue I have been trying to dispute with Vrbo. I get told, your issue will be escalated to an escalation team to deal with and they will reach out to you. Been told by multiple customer service reps that same thing. Weeks have gone by nobody reaches out. I’m just going to dispute the issues and charges with my Cc company and not pay Vrbo any money what so ever. Do yourself a favor and use a different rental company that actually cares about their customers.

    I booked a lakefront property for a family vacation. The pictures depicted a home (from apparently, an old picture ) having a front door with stairs, which had been removed from the house at some point prior to our arrival. The pictures did not show a huge hot tub on the deck that apparently had not been used in years.The hot tub cover was growing grass through the cracks in the rubber, and there was rancid moldy water inside.The inside of the house was dirty and had to be vacuumed. Dust was covering curtains and ceiling fans and other high points in every room. There were cobwebs and spiders in all corners of the house, and pine needles and cobwebs on the screened windows. Clutter covered every surface. there were dead flowers in smelly water on the dining room table. Two days after we got there, the septic system backed up. The owner brought us a porta potty to use until the problem could be corrected almost 2 days later, and told us the men could pee in the woods and women could pee in a can. The owner did refund a portion of our money, but it did not cover the amount of hours we were without the use of toilets, showers, laundry, dishwasher and the relaxing vacation we had expected and payed for. On top of this, the owner insulted the state we live in, made racist comments, and was condescending and rude; never expressing an apology, or taking responsibility.

    I have been extremely frustrated by the fact that the VRBO App behaves quite differently than the VEBO webpage using my browser ~ which I’ve done for a few years longer: sometimes I can &/need to use one as opposed to the other. When I log in, my activity history, saved selections on my wish lists, and the way the App responds to searches are all very different. This makes things very difficult: I seem to be working at cross purposes to myself. Properties I have been actively looking at on my laptop do not show up as “recently viewed” and it is very hard to find them. Search results are NOT shown un order of relative proximity to my desired location in Maine ~ instead, they bounce around all over the map (right there, two towns away, two hours away, next town over, right there…). Maine is a big state. This random scattershot listing of results is extremely difficult to work with. I have raised both these issues repeatedly with customer service representatives. This seems to go nowhere at all. I would REALLY appreciate it if VRBO would coordinate the ‘behavior patterns’ of the website and the phone App!!! I really don’t need to get this upset trying to deal with this and neither do your other traveler clients.

    When I click on a message thread in the app (after Inbox), the app just sits there flashing the screen for about 60 seconds before the message thread shows up. That is very annoying.

    Customer service has lied to me twice I called in and was hung up on at first then they said they would have a team contact me to help ! honestly i will never let this go until im refunded or this app gets shut down!! Do not use this app !!! If you get to ur rental and get screwed over they refuse to actually help you book with someone who holds to there word vrbo is garbage

    It was a very clean condo. Elevator’s were awesome, fast. Pool’s & hot tub clean & spacious. Plenty of tables & deck loungers & chairs. There wasn’t any drinking glasses, and I messaged the property manager. By the time we got back from the beach the 1st day they had left a case of glasses. Awesome. Negative’s……The a/c did not keep the master bedroom cool. The beach chairs were not included & 2 chairs were $90 a day. The Television in living area & master bedroom were not smart tv’s. The ice maker dispenser didn’t work. The poolside bar couldn’t make frozen drinks. But having said all this, we would definitely stay here again. Best overall we’ve stayed at in years.

    We bought our rental through Vrbo and the insurance. We called before we arrived in London to say we had not heard from the rental only to be put off. We spent hours on the phone with Vrbo on our 1st day here only to be put into a windowless 1 bedroom hotel with a promise to “fix” the situation in 3 days. Are we to wait around on our vacation to get equal accommodations?

    Don’t use this app, if you have a problem with the property, you are on your own. Is hard to get in touch with the owners or managers for the property and if you try to contact Vrbo. They can’t help you with nothing. They will said contact the property manager and that’s it. I rent 2 diferentes property’s and I have issues with both and on the last one, I have a extra charge for $200 and VRbo give me the phone number for the manager to ask why. When I did the deal true Vrbo and for me should be there Vrbo responsable of my credit card information. And be just them who charge my card.

    All in all the two places I stayed were great and it’s search’s nicely. My main issue is I used this app when I stayed for a work trip and need a receipt they don’t provide one even tho money is withdrawn by them for the property owner. So if you need an invoice or receipt you have to beg the property owner to get one for you cause all they do is send u an email not an actual invoice that an account will accept.

    I miss placed the address of the place that I’ve stayed. Been trying all day to find the address only to get circled around with the virtual assistant. This is got to be the worst set up I’ve ever used. Stick with Airbnb don’t waste your time with Vrbo .

    During our stay my son slept in one of the main bedrooms of the house, during the night he was bitten several times woke up to at least 7 bites to his leg. I expressed this to the owner he told me due to the heavy rains that they had a problem with mosquitoes, I assured him it was not mosquitoes bites. Now after our stay I’ve had to take my son to Dr due to bites causing an infection which now lead to cellulitis causing him to now miss a week of work and out of pocket for meds. This definitely was not mosquito’s!

    I have been dealing with VRBO for over a year to recover funds from an incident that happened where I was taken advange by one of their property owners. During a stay, one of my guest accidentally cracked an ikea coffee table which I reported to the owner, who turned around and charged me the max $1,500 for replacement (for a $200 table). I have been on the phone multiple times (hours and hours) wirh VRBO promising a resolve and nothing happening. Take your business elsewhere.

    I had an issue with a booking and an agent decided I qualified for “BWC Guarantee” and the agent said I would be reimbursed the full amount of a hotel because of the situation. The email they sent said the same thing. I sent them the required information and 2 months later, they finally email me back and tell me I’m only getting $70. I wouldn’t have booked a hotel if I knew I wasn’t actually going to get reimbursed. They said I wouldn’t get anything if I argued it at all. Horrible customer service! Just book with AirBNB, they actually care about whether you have a place to sleep or not.

    My host assured me of a 100% full refund because there is a hurricane that hit the area. Instead of receiving my full refund VRBO wants to only give me back $100 of the $900 I spent for the reservation. The VRBO rental can’t even promise that there will be electricity or running water. Reached out to VRBO chat representatives and FIVE representatives ended the chat on their end without giving me any answers. SAVE YOURSELF THE HASSEL AND USE AIRBNB! This company is a SCAM!

    Don’t ever use vrbo, they value their hosts more than their guests. We had an extremely terrible experience with Vrbo customer service on our last trip this week. We arrived to the vrbo and found that the host forgot to send cleaners so the place had dirty dishes in the dishwasher, nothing cleaned, dirty used towels and sheets on the laundry room floor, sinks dirty. When we tried to reach out to the host she was unavailable and didn’t respond, so we called vrbo customer service a total of 4 times and spent over 3 hours total on the phone wi to them. No one was helpful, we told them how could we shower or sleep in this condition and the host isn’t responding, and the customer service rep said we needed to give the host 24 hours to respond and said he could not give us another accommodation because the issue was considered a “minor issue”. We ended up spending 3 hours washing sheets, towels, blankets in order for us to sleep that night, we didn’t end up sleeping until 3 am which completely ruined our vacation. The next day, the host finally responded and apologized and returned one night’s stay but we had to request our cleaning fee be returned as well. When I reached out to the executive sales team to complain about the terrible vrbo customer service experience, they said they could do nothing else as we were reimbursed for the one night and cleaning fee and that they agreed this was only a minor inconvenience. How is not being able to shower or sleep at a vrbo when that is the main reason we book one considered a minor inconvenience? They didn’t compensate us at all for the 3 hours wasted on the phone, 3 hours wasted doing laundry and the dishes, the terrible experience with customer service. One of the reps even suggested that we hire our own housekeeper and they they might possibly refund us for the bill, how is that even appropriate and acceptable when we are the paying customers? Airbnb has never done this before when I have had a mishap, they have handled it properly and compensated us fairly for our troubles. I don’t recommend vrbo at all they are fraudulent and liars. Their book with confidence policy is not true. They do not honor that. Don’t ever use vrbo or you will regret it.

    Can hosts not block off days immediately before or after a reservation automatically via VRBO settings? It’s a waste of time to find a property ‘available’, make sure everyone in the group is available and requests off work and is approved, to then find out there was another pending reservation for the days right before my reservation, but an extra day isn’t auto blocked off if necessary for the host. Crappy experience for everyone involved.

    I will never use this service again, it is the worst thing I have ever had, every time I called to make a claim about the badness of the property I rented in FL they told me that they were going to solve it for me, that they were going to contact me by phone or email, that they were going to refund me money for the lousy service and they never did, I will never use them again. It was the 4 worst night I ever paid for a bad service. I will going to use Airbnb from now on.

    We rented a large home, internationally, through VRBO . We have used VRBO many times without a problem. HOWEVER, about 3 days before our arrival at our rental (8 people), I received a notice from VRBO notifying us that our refund had been approved for our last night and our dates were changed so that we had to check out a day early! I contacted the host and he said he was sorry but that we’d need to check out early, even though all of us had fights for the following day! Needless to say, we weren’t happy, as our one night’s refund nowhere near covered the cost of a night’s stay for that many people. We did some research and found out that VRBO takes no responsibility, nor does it do anything to discourage hosts from cancelling or changing reservations at the last minute. Hosts have complete control, so be sure to get some references or know, up front, that your reservation can be cancelled by your host for no reason. We were extremely disappointed and angry that this can happen. VRBO might say this in fine print somewhere but it certainly makes me think twice about renting from VRBO/HomeAway if there is another choice. Perhaps a reason to purchase travel insurance, but it’s another expense, simply because VRBO allows hosts to do what they want.
