No meal plans. Can’t spin wheel. Boring OLD content.
Love SparkPeople! 5/5
This is the best app for fitness and weight loss. Even the free version is loaded with features!
I have found the apps easy to use & very informative
Best tracking app 5/5
I’ve used this app for years - I’ve tried other food tracking apps but always come back to Spark People. It’s easy to track calories and fitness. I have a Garmin and it automatically syncs (I had trouble with other apps).
DO NOT DOWNLOAD THIS! Deceptive practices. Monthly subscription required for features. Offered free trial but unable to unsubscribe. No instructions on how to do it. Deleting app does not stop billing. Closing account does not stop billing. You are directed to App Store but there is no way to cancel on page. Went to app web page, still no instructions. DO NOT BILL ME!!!! Cancel my account and subscription!
10 stars for the actual program but only 3 for the app. 3/5
I LOVE LOVE LOVE the SPARKPEOPLE program! I have lost a lot of weight and get TONS of support from others also on their weight loss journey. However, the app needs work.
Every time I try to read an article, I get kicked out of the app and that is so frustrating because there are awesome tips in there! I never really got the results I was expecting as fast as I expected them, but how I know the reason and it's in the app setup! I paid for the premium version to ask a coach why I wasn't losing and They are EXTREMELY helpful! But, I didn't know that if you don't sign up on the ACTUAL website from a tablet or computer, your default settings thinks you're a man and when it comes to weight loss as a woman, this will WILL hinder your weight loss. You can't even see it from the app, you have to go to the website to change it because it gives you your personalized calorie count based on height, weight, gender... and a mans is 300 calories more a day than a woman's; so if you don't know, you're eating too much and won't see the results you hoped for! Like I said, LOVE LOVE LOVE the program but not the app so much!
Please fix the article glitch and I'll change it to 4 stars!
Not able to respond to comments 1/5
If you communicate with a member and they respond, it’s nowhere to find it. Or rather you have to get out from the place you are, go to your profile, look for the particular member you want to talk to and read the response. How about charging to “reply” button rather than going through the nightmare?
Food log is crowded with food suggestions which I have never used or eat for over 10 years that I use this program. Please remove it or let me decide if I want to see it or not.
Some lady links don’t work, I have to reload the app.
If you fix the problems and bugs, I’ll change the ratings.
Good tools but too many ads 3/5
I have used Spark People off and on for years. I started using it again recently and was disappointed in the frequency of ads. I understand they are needed to generate revenue, however, the frequency of the ads takes away from the simplicity of the diet tools.
Broken on 8+ 1/5
By Veronica Anne W.
Cannot sign in with fb on my new iPhone 8+ after setting it up today. Website works but mobile app keeps saying I’ve logged in previously and then I click continue and it basically takes me back to the sign in page and stays there over and over and over. And they actually ask us to pay for this?
Demands too rapid weight loss 1/5
I’m looking for an alternative to LoseIt, which has made changes that really hurt. SparkPeople isn’t workable because the slowest possible weight loss target is a pound a week. That’s too fast for me (and for my cardiologist). I’d lost almost 30 pounds at half a pound a week. I can do that, and it builds a sustainable lifestyle change. A full pound a week is too much.
Keeps crashing after adding food 3/5
I’m guessing but it seems like the ads crash the app after I add food
Friend finder 1/5
It’s not very easy to add your friends through the app. It’s pretty difficult online too.
Good app, room for improvement 4/5
I enjoy this app. I get good information and motivation from the blog. It syncs with my Fitbit which is helpful except for water intake. It would be nice if I could enter my own recipe for something instead of having to enter each individual ingredient I used and guessing the portion size of each item. Lately the app has been crashing when I use it. That just started recently and I’ve been using it for several weeks. Also it’s much easier to enter exercise on this app than it is in the Fitbit app! If you do a SparkPeople workout it just takes a tap to track it!
Used to be awesome, ads are ruining it 2/5
I’ve used sparkpeople for ages. And the app for years. It’s always been a quick way to keep track of everything. The latest versions have so many ads, it freezes, glitches, and takes 5x as long to enter food because of the many ads. I will make a point to NOT spend any $ at any of the obnoxious advertising companies.
App not working 2/5
The Sparkpeople app used work well for me. Unfortunately, im not able to keep up with the rest of the world by getting the latest smart phone. Im stuck using one that's 3 years old. Certain things, like the articles associated with the coach, cause my app to cause my app to crash every time. I've tried restarting my phone and deleting/ reinstalling the app. Doesn't help. So although the content is great and relevant to me, I can't access it. Other parts fail too. I just gave one example. And my IOS is up to date.
App keeps crashing 2/5
Please fix. This app constantly crashes & has become worthless.
By Severiano Rosa
Keeps crashing. Pretty frustrating.
Keeps crashing 1/5
I want to use this app but it keeps crashing. Please fix!
Keeps crashing on iPhone 3/5
The last few days my app keeps closing whenever i try to add a food. Not sure what’s going on.
App used to be better 3/5
I’ve been using this app for several years. I even purchased it again once I went to iPhone from Android. Apparently the money I spent (TWICE!) means nothing now. The food tracker is now a cluttered mess with food suggestions preloaded making it difficult to easily and quickly read. Because of this the convenience of the app is a wash. I want to be able to track my food as quickly and smoothly as possible. Not see a whole bunch of food suggestions cluttering my food log. If there IS a way to do away with this it isn’t easily findable. Please put the app back the way it used to be.
The Help We need 5/5
By pastor clint
Best app and web site to help one to get and stay in shape.
Great but slow 2/5
I love this app! I’ve compared it to fitness pal, lose it, and my plate and this one is by far my favorite. It gives the most information and great options like the recipe builder, copy foods from one day to another, and the ability to group together your favorite foods. I love how easy it is to see your macros and micronutrients for everything you eat, as well as the ease of linking the app to calories burned on your fit bit or Apple Watch. However, lately I’ve been frustrated with how long the app takes to “think” every time you input a food or switch to a different feature. I can upload my meals in a fraction of the time on other apps and because of this I am sadly moving on. I hope spark can improve the speed of the app. If so, I’ll come back to using it in a heartbeat. But for now, I’m moving on to an app that doesn’t take me ten minutes to input a single meal.
Good choices stored 5/5
I like that meals are stored so it’s easy to track repeats and that there is a great selection of every kind of food to choose from to keep your calories counted. Now if I would jut stay motivated to track I’d be in heaven.
Premium still shows ads 2/5
By Very frustrated spark fan
In general, this is a fantastic app. However, I have premium and I continue to get ads, particularly around the time when my subscription renews. Now, SparkPeople support is telling me my subscription ended 9 days earlier than my renewal date and talk to Apple. This is very frustrating. In addition, when anything goes wrong, you need to download and reload the app.
Love the app and... 4/5
This app is lovely. It needs an update for iPhone X and better health integration with Watch. It’s a little glitchy.
Everything about this app is great!
Awesome Site 5/5
I’d give you more stars if I could. You are awesome! Encouraging, motivational and full of useful information. Th fellow Sparkers are awesome also! Thanks for caring about us and our families wellness. 💕💕
Portrait mode only 1/5
I gave this app a try then and deleted it when I found that you can only use it on an Phone in portrait mode. if you want to use it on an iPad using landscape and your keyboard you’re just screwed.
Yes I looked at the iPad app, it hasn’t been updated in five years, it’s got a 2 star rating and the biggest complaints were that it was missing many of the features of the iPhone app. I understand that an app developer can’t be all things to all people but since the iPad app isn’t being updated it would be really helpful if the iPhone app worked in portrait mode
Great app, except... 4/5
I’ve used this app for over a year. It’s easy to use and has a lot of info. I sync my Fitbit to it. The only wish list I had is that the nutrients would sync to Apple Health.
Good, except... 3/5
Mostly works well for me, but I can’t find anyplace in the app to see replies to my posts. Help?
Great app. 4/5
By Speedy 466
Its great to have an app to keep track with an accurate accessible calorie counter.
App keeps informing me I have an error everytime I try to enter my goals
I’ve been using your app for years and have loved it. I understand the need for ads in the app, but the video ads that are suddenly and CONSTANTLY playing have GOT to go. They are disruptive to the point where I cannot even focus on what I am trying to enter in my food log because they start playing every few seconds! I will be going elsewhere if this isn’t fixed.
Ad Pop-Ups Make it Unworkable 1/5
In the span of two minutes as I input b’fast and lunch, no less than 7x did the same dog food ad pop up in a window, making this app useless. I spent more time trying to close the window(which sometimes didn’t so I had to close the app) than getting my tracking in. The huge increase in ads on this app makes it frustrating to use. Looking to switch!!
So many adds 1/5
About to uninstall. Used to be bearable with an ad every few searches, now it’s every single search plus auto pop up gifs. There are free apps that don’t do this.
I have to input my goals every time I open it and it won’t work as it says it does in conjunction with sparkrecipes. Nice concept but if I can’t get past the goals menu it does me no good.
The wonderful and the NOT! 4/5
SparkPeople has an enormous data bank of food items with the ability to use the recipe app which can transfer the recipe values to your log. They also have features such as favorites and grouping. The interface is simple to use. I also like the community where goals, disappointments and accomplishments can be shared. This is a huge moral booster.
Unfortunately the ability to see your meal plan values, such as the diabetic values, is not available on the phone app but is on the pc site.
I have used this app and or the computer version for over a decade and have loved the layout and usefulness. While the app version (which I paid for when it was first released) included everything I needed, it never lived up to the pc version. -(a great deal of apps are like that, especially those that deal with money transactions.) Still I used it. It didn’t have the obnoxious pop ups like they do now. I am greatly dissatisfied with the way SP app has flooded my pages with pop up ads. While I understand the need for some advertising to support the app, unfortunately pop ups have taken over and begs the question...what entity truly own this app. I no longer have the ability to simply enter my foods without the assault by these pop-ups.
For whatever reason I am unable to purchase the premium version on my iPhone, which the only advantage it offers for me, as far as I see, is no pop up advertising. Also the price isn’t even listed in SparkPeople ads. Grr...
A note to these advertisers, I will NEVER purchase your products no matter how often you use your annoying full page pop-ups! I would be more likely to at least look at your advertising if it were smaller ad at bottom of page or on a page that doesn’t obscure my ability to use the most important feature for me.
Loving SparkPeople! 5/5
By Justfurkids Carol
Information, inspiration, motivation towards a healthier lifestyle! Talk about community support-WOW! Really loving this app!
Great App 4/5
I love the app it been a great tool in my weight loss efforts
I love Spark People 5/5
Because they help me stay on track every day of my journey.
So help me if I have five more YouTube ads pop in a row I am dropping this app.
I’m so disillusioned 1/5
I have used SparkPeople for years. You have been, bar none, the best food tracker I’ve used. However, your latest iPhone version has been perverted by ads and the iPad version (for which I paid for the ad free version) no longer works because you’ve sold out and haven’t updated to the latest iOS update. I refuse to any longer pay for updated versions of your app because I can no longer trust that you’ll update your app and be available across all my devices. If I thought a small annual fee would keep my ad free app working I might bite, but I’ve already paid for your iPad version for which you’ve f...ed me over....why should I trust you again????
Freaking awesome 5/5
Love this app! It has totally changed my life!!
Too much work 1/5
By Puppy Love xo
After being off the app for a while, I log in my current weight so I can change my goal. The weight doesn’t change. I close the app and open to get it to stick. I put in 110.8 and goal weight 110, and you have to put a date so I choose 1 month. Then it ends up saying lose 2 lbs per week for 1 month and I can’t change it. How exactly does that work? So really what I’m interested in is easy logging. Plain cole slaw—I eat it every day in salad instead of lettuce. Only 1 entry of plain cole slaw in the 20 entries I scrolled down and it’s in grams only. Can I scan the bar code? Yes. But should I have to? This is not some exotic food that few people eat. And conveniently there is no contact information so you can’t email anyone about anything. Ugh. Too much work.
Needs to be updated to iPhone X 3/5
This app needs to be updated to take advantage of iPhone X’s larger screen and “the notch”.
Fix landscape vs. portrait 4/5
I’ve been using Spark People for YEARs and now I can only get it in portrait mode on my iPad Air.... My iPad is used with a keyboard in landscape mode. I hope there is a way to change this, I can’t find a solution. If this is a developer issue, please change this back so that we have the ability to use in either direction.
Pounds lost 3/5
Pounds lost not updating
Used to be a good app 1/5
I am not motivated by your community feed. I would like to be able to view the blogs I used to be able to read, see the goals I say for myself, and get to my spark teams without having to log into a computer. I realize we life in a time of instant self gratification and tat is why your community feed is popular, but some of us were successful with the tools you used to feature. Why would I pay for your app when I could look at Facebook to get the same amount of garbage?
Easy way to look up calories. I didn’t realize how much I was over eating.
Updated - Frustrated with ads 5/5
Thank you for fixing the 1 food/1 ad issue. Updating from 2 to 5 star!
