Why Bother With This App? 1/5
Since the ability to set recordings on my X1 DVR has been removed this application is of little value. For the amount we pay each month for cable service I would expect features to be added and NOT removed!

Badly in need of an update. A lot of the on demand features do not work. This is especially odd as this is a place where they make money. This is how little they seem to care about their app.

I used to be able to use this app to record a show currently on my xfinity box or one in the future. No longer a feature. Xfinity raised my prices again but took away value. Delirious

Either there, and unfindable, or not provided. Either way this is essential functionality overlooked or poorly implemented.

March 2018 - still cannot set recordings from the app. The app is a glorified armchair remote AKA worthless.
With latest update Comcast has removed functionality—i.e. I can no longer set up recording on the app — which has rendered the app useless.

Please solve your dispute with TiVo even if it means paying them for their patent. Comcast has plenty of money to buy anything from TiVo. I travel frequently and need to be able to record stuff via an online connection. Despite the garbage I have been told by Xfinity, not everything is available on demand. Therefore watch it on demand is not an exceptional answer. It’s been a few months, enough is enough!
Title says it all.
This app is useless. In the past was able to set program recordings from iPad or iPhone, but not anymore. So why even bother with this?

This was an excellent app until Comcast lost their battle with TiVo and removed the remote DVR programming function. That function was the main reason to use this app. It’s been several months now and there has been no evidence Comcast has tried to return that feature to the app.

All the carriers have had the ability to record remotely through their apps for what seems like forever, and NOW XFINITY takes that function away? The remote was already clumsy with all the functions scattered across so many screens, but to actually take away functionality makes no sense. The app would get a 5 star if it kept all its current functionality AND the recording function was reinstated AND the layout was reworked to be more user friendly. Why not just mimic the current layout of the voice remote — lay everything out vertically, so user simply have to scroll up and down instead of have to select the correct icon from top or bottom to land in another area that requires more navigation?!

This app was the best before Xfinity removed the record button. It’s only a TV guide at this point.

For me, the main value of this app WAS being able to remotely set a program to record. Then in late November this record program button was removed. Comcast’s explanation is extremely weak. Why is there any conflict between a subscriber setting a program to record on their remote at home, or setting a recording without the remote but with the app?

My remote stopped working and have to use the app exclusively until the new remote arrives and it is impossible to continue watching anything after one recording or one on demand show. There is always a pop up box (to watch next episode or delete, etc) after each episode or recording that I have no way to get rid of on the app without the arrow and enter function. It stays there no matter how many new recordings I choose or channels I change. I have to unplug the box and let it reset. It’s so frustrating. Of course rewind, fast forward, pause and play would be super helpful too and seem to be no brainers, but to not have the other arrow functions doesn’t make sense for customer service to suggest using it as a substitute for the actual remote because it doesn’t function properly. Very disappointing!

It is 3/15/2018 - the app stopped working a few days ago. You can look at what’s on, but the buttons to change to watch a specific program don’t change the TV’s channel. This app should be re-named “Xfinity TV Guide”

I have used this exclusively to record and use the DVR manager. Since that’s gone, there no point to the app unless all you’re interested in is changing channels.

My emails will not open or update right if at all. They stall and nothing happens so I close it and reopen it but still nothing. The ability to record a show at home from my phone well forget that... And don’t even try to get help you are just asked to delete the app and reinstall it, and yes the emails will work for maybe 24 hours. But then it’s back to the way it was. It seems the more money they charge the less stuff you get. And all the channels and we might watch 30.

I used to use this app to record shows. They changed the app to prevent customers from remotely recording shows that you forgot to record before leaving home. The only thing it’s good for is to find out what’s on and what channel.

Unbelievable perk for my xfinity account. No more going through batteries looking for remotes , everyone has their phone on them , and I love that I can switch what box I can control, works with every box in your home.

This used to be one of the most convenient apps I have. If I was away from home I could schedule a program to record from wherever I was. The updated version no longer has the option to record a program from the channel listing. The app is pretty useless without the record capability.
I am truly disappointed because you can no longer record a show from your phone like you use to using the app.

1. Allow the internet user to schedule a future recording ... I know that you are arguing with TIVO on the fees for this, but in the meantime you two should agree to permit users to do and REACTIVATE this until your disagreement is settled, and then, if you are forced to pay a fee to TIVO, offer it as a no additional profit service for those of us who are willing to pay the (unreasonable I think) fee to TIVO.
2. In the meantime, allow us to send an eMail from a program detail, e.g. a SHARE, that ca remind us, or other users, of an upcoming program, that we could then locally schedule for recording.
3. Put a link on the main, listings, page to go directly to a FULLY featured report app, so that we could use the iPhone to do ALL the commands that a HARDWARE remote can do, e.g. Power.on/off, Skip.forward/backward, TV Volume.up/Down, Input.Selection, etc. (perhaps you need to sell /rent and support a WiFi to IR converter for my IR controlled TV.
I like the capability to control my SetTop box from me iPhone/Android, but want FULL functionality both remotely 1. and 2. and locally, 3.

This app is super limited. Yes I can change channels on any box in my house. Yes I can start playback of a DVR recording, OK. Where’s my pause button. Where’s my rewind button? Where’s my fast forward button? BRING BACK THE X1 REMOTE APP IDIOTS!

Through this app one used to be able to set a recording for their DVR. This was an extremely convenient feature if one heard about a program away from home and wanted to record it for later viewing. This feature seems to have been removed. So disappointed! I hope they bring that back.
This app was good when you could set recording from it but now that you can't it's kind of worthless. Come on comcast get your crap together!!!

iPad xfinity remote app no longer allows you to change channels or record. You can only use the channel guide and view what you have set with the remote. It has no useful functionality. Bah. It was really good she first launched. What's going on?

This used to be a decent app we used to be able to record and watch our recording’s on the TV from this app and use it to start recording‘s now I don’t even show all the recordings that are on the DVR only goes back 20 days this is app is a waste of time
