Your Texas Benefits App

The Your Texas Benefits app is for people in Texas who have applied for or get: • SNAP food benefits • Health-care benefits (Medicaid and CHIP) • TANF cash help Manage and view your cases anytime you want – right from your phone. Use the app to take a photo and send us files we need, like a copy of your paycheck. Set up and view alerts about your cases, like when it’s time to renew your benefits. You also can report certain changes to your cases and find an office near you.     I recently lost my Lone Star Card and had a hard time reporting it by phone. It shouldn’t be super difficult to report it. I couldn’t find a spot on the web site or app to do that either.

    I’m very satisfied with this app! I can apply, renew my benefits as well as upload photos of documents and identification needed to complete my case. I receive all my messages in the message center and I can check the status of applications I’ve started and or canceled. This is so much easier than having to go into the office and wait all day especially if you’re like me and you’re disabled. This is an extremely wonderful app that’s very helpful and easy to navigate.

    I downloaded the app to try and upload the rest of my info that was needed and when the app went to verify my identity and ask my security questions the questions won’t pop up on the screen so I can’t even use the app!

    It is great that I can do all my paperwork from my phone although at times there are technical problems and I can’t open a link and it is really frustrating when I cannot upload a file when there is a deadline and my case is due or else I will lose my benefits. You should allow a given period of extra time so that people can get their paper work all in and in a timely manner.

    Been trying over and over to get this change done before January 9 2019 so my kids will not once again have another hard month due to the fact their father still hasn’t helped. I got it dropped all because of literally 1 month he decided to work

    This site needs serious re-design. Errors in work status are ambiguous — what are your definitions of “work”, “jobs” and “employment?” Can I have work without employment? Or jobs without employment? Can I simply have an occasional job without being employed? And what if I am erroneously listed as being employed by someone when I just worked occasionally for him? I found it impossible to change that status — it was set in concrete. And when I am unable to make changes and try to send in new data, the site will not let me send in my report because of “errors”. To find assistance is a maze of button pressing. You say, dial 211 then 2. Not so. The correct sequence is as follows: 211-2-1-3-7 or 4. You must listen to all the choices in great detail before you can make a selection. And then the all-excusing recorded message: “We are experiencing heavy call volume...” Oh, please. (I also sent two messages for assistance to the webmaster. No call-back. Nada.) Finally, I came to realize that the web site and the app were so faulted as to be useless for reports, so I bundled up everything I had, with handwritten explanations, and mailed them to you at the post office box you provided. So instead of your clients entering their changes, you must do so. What a waste of time. Wouldn’t it be more expedient to fix the site?

    To the last representative I spoke to was so helpful and did so much more for me than what she had and it wasn’t even her department it was just to remind me to renew my benefits when the last representative I had told me I didn’t have them for the whole past year

    There is not an option for if I don’t work anymore. At one point the Medicaid said it was fine and I happened to scroll down and noticed it said denied so now I’m having to struggle to get the medical turned back on before appointments next week I set! Why would the government want a person to renew in the month of December anyway!! They don’t realize that would be the busiest time of year for a struggling person someone who needs the assistance to begin with!? Thanks for making it even harder to get by! Merry Christmas I hope your happy all the families you are not helping feed this year!!!

    Thank you very much for helping my daughter to get her health insurance. Cook children’s hospital had a best health treatment for my daughter. Especially I have to appreciate to my daughter’s femur surgery Doctor John David Roaten MD. He is the best MD doctor.

    I like that you can access this site to upload files. In an ideal world it makes the process faster. The camera, maybe it was just mine, but didn't take close up enough pics of the information so during my interview she was having to guess what the info was. Interview was longer & she seemed frustrated. Next, if it is to make it easier for all involved, make calls less I mean, wouldn't it be better when you open your cases if for SNAP, you could see your balance & the date when the card is loaded monthly with money. Also, when you are looking in on the section under benefits where you go to see if Medicaid is approved or denied, you should be able to see more of the information. Like Medicaid number, etc. Lastly, this has changed since I was on Medicaid many years ago, there are apparently lots of numbers to call now. There's 211, but if you have a question about food stamps, they redirect you to a different number to call, or if it's about certain aspects of Medicaid, you have to call a different number. If there was a department contact tab or something that would alleviate many wrong calls & some frustration for callers & in turn the employees b/c many people are not nice. Thank you for giving me a chance for feedback. Hope it helps some.

    Terrible app! Not worth your time, can’t change jobs, remove or add information without going through 20 steps. This is the worst app I’ve ever had ,seriously the STATE could do better! Hard to navigate, perhaps toggles or maybe fill in the blank??? Not any better than the paper version. I think I’d rather have the paper version back and it was confusing as well.
