Great app, service 5/5
Suggestion : please make it easier for us to go to previous or next channel by swiping left or right on apple tv remote and swiping on the screen left or right on iphone/ipad app. Thank you
I would like to rate this - 10 stars !
Could easily be 5 stars... 4/5
Pros easy to use app, great HD quality video on wifi, or strong cell signal. Unlimited DVR service, I have programs recorded over a year ago, still available.
Cons monthly cost pretty expensive, no other plans, premium channels all separate no bundle plan for those either. Some networks are missing.
App is great to use on the go, local channels are great, whatever city your visiting.
I love this app! Simply perfect!
Love the content, Kate Heath app. Especially the Apple TV app. 2/5
The $40 per month package is perfect. Sports, Networks, movie channels. But the phone and iPad apps are just barely passable And the Apple TV app is god awful. It’s a repackaged version of the same app they put on Roku and it’s just plain terrible. I’m considering switching to spectrum because your app is just so awful on Apple TV.
Need Picture in Picture (PiP) 2/5
Update:I wrote a review a few months ago, and YouTube tv has updated the app so you can use it in split view. This has actually made the experience worse, so I have e downgraded the review. Apple has built into their iOS the ability for apps to do PIP (example Amazon Prime), so the lack of PIP is a choice and not a design limitation. I’m giving this service a few more months and then probably switching to a solution that does provide PIP if it doesn’t materialize. This isn’t that hard people really, get it done.
Okay but I prefer Hulu 3/5
Okay but I prefer Hulu in part because of better lineup on Hulu. Come on Google/ YouTube, where is A&E?
Love it! 5/5
Local Channels, Sports and great picture quality. All I need.
By big big dog
Great coverage of sports only problem is my wife complains no hallmark channels.
Great product! Good app! 5/5
Overall, I find it very intuitive to use. The main thing it’s missing is Picture in Picture or multiple screen options of some kind.
Bad for Apple TV 2/5
By Hate Comcast
The Apple TV app is frustratingly awful. It’s consistently fuzzy or buffering. They should take down this app.
Commercials are nuts 1/5
Don’t bother with on demand. The ads are twice as long as the shows. It’s brutal almost to the point of canceling.
Love it! Get rid of cable!!! 4/5
By Rookie Streamer
First off, cutting cable was a great decision! Thank you for airing all my sports! That was the only thing holding me back from cutting the cord a while ago! Awesome sauce! Okay now that I got that out of the way, here’s the details. The iPhone app is great. It works great on WiFi and pretty good on cellular as long as I have good service at the time. Now the Apple TV app is horrible...that’s why I give this four stars. I have to screen share from my phone to the Apple TV as the TV just sits with the circular loading screen. And when it does decide to display, it is a horrible picture. Please really look into the Apple TV app. I know the most recent gen runs 4K and if you’re looking for a easy way to tell us you need to charge extra to see in 4K like Netflix, just tell us. Please figure out the Apple TV app sooner than later.
Careful Here... 1/5
...bought a “free seven day” trial subscription and was immediately charged a full month’s fee on my Apple Pay. Apple was very helpful...YouTube TV/Google was not. Got refunded, but my Apple TV days are over after one day.
Like the app, but 5/5
It would be nice if it was the same as the look on TV, with the limited channel guide
By Goofy pot
This makes me so mad. I kinda though you would have to pay but reading the information about this app really got my hopes up. But when I actually opened it I had to pay gosh darn 40 bucks. Also I give this app ZERO stars, but of course I have to give at least one .
Awesome Stuff Here 5/5
By Mistah Vega
Not much to say here. A friend recommended it, did trial, never looked back. Now, I just had to convince the wife. After some hesitation on her part, we are all very happy.
Seems awesome 5/5
Seems awesome and all but can’t try because my city is too small I guess ?
App is meh. No PBS. 3/5
If you’re trying to DVR your game and watch it doesn’t work well here.
Also. No pbs. What’s up with that?
By El Indio 1
Worth it, never plan on going back to comcast
Good app 5/5
It’s a good app because you can watch live videos or any shows or movies. On the YouTube app you would normally have to pay for the shows but on YouTube TV you don’t.
Such great potential 4/5
We’ve been using YouTubeTV for about 5 months now and I’m convinced that this is what TV should look like. It seems to get better with each release. Just like cable there are a lot of things that I’d never watch and some that I wish I had. I’d love to have the Viacom programs (HGTV, Discovery, Food, etc). HBO would be nice but all of these are a cost vs value decision. One area that needs to be addressed is navigating through programs, the UI is not intuitive. I’d like to be able to skip over commercials and have a good way to navigate within the program. Still it has allowed me to cut the cord while keeping my wife happy. Overall a victory.
Easy to use, easy to cast +TYT 5/5
By Blake Cumbie
Awesome app for cord cutting people that still want to enjoy live TV (news, sports, and other major live national events). I chose this app after using several similar services, because it is compatible with basically every device imaginable, and very easy to cast whatever you’re watching. Another HUGE bonus is carrying the TYT news network!!!
More LIVE CHANNELS 4/5
I wish you had more Live Channels for us to pick from.
I mean it does what regular cable does. Maybe has some differences. Idk if it’s my internet or what but when I play YTTV on my phone when connected it’s a perfect picture, on my TV is worse than SD. I also hate when I travel for work it changes my local channels/market.
I mean it’s alright, thinking about getting rid of it
It’s 2019 and still no Picture in Picture? Shame. 1/5
It’s 2019 folks...No picture in picture? No background playing? Whoever is making feature decisions at YouTube/Youtube TV needs to stop huffing glue.
You’ll continue to get 1 star for severely limiting features that should be required for any video application—ESPECIALLY when it’s something I pay for monthly. Again, put the glue away and get to work.
By Ticked off iPhone user!
I’ve had no issues whatsoever with this app. And YouTube TV is the best streaming service out there. I’ve had all of them, including Sling and DirectTV Now and this one has them beat, in my opinion. So glad I signed up.
The cost is to high versus the competition....
Affordable TV 5/5
I love you tube TV. We shut off our cable tv when it cost over $300 a month. Finally finding you tube tv for less than $40 a month and you only need wifi and we are able to stream live tv once again. Any problems I had with choppy wifi streaming were solved with a 5 ghtz plug in to laptop.
Worst Reording 1/5
The worst recording system u’d ever see.. u record a movie and it will take it as a serial and keep on recording whenever it sees that movie name again in the future and if u cancel upcoming movie or an episode it will delete the one u already have in your library as well.
Already limited selection, then games are blocked 3/5
I’m in Southern California, and I definitely expected more nba games. For the most part, there’s always 1-2 games available from nbas scheduled games. But to have so many Laker games blocked on a channel that you provided me with.. no. Not fair. For the time being I’ll keep this service, but I’ll be looking at other options. For $10-15 more a month I’d have more of a selection and not so many laker games blocked.
Just what I was looking for 5/5
By TV Quest
Internet TV is the only real way to fight the mess that cable tries to sell you and YouTube does it best
Functional but a ways to go 3/5
The app is functional but is limited in a number of key areas that would seem to be easy to fix. The single biggest complaint is the inability to see what’s coming up on channels in the near future. You can easily see what’s on now (and actually well done) but if you want to see what’s on in an hour, can’t be done. The other aspect that really needs help is recording only new releases only, as others have said. These should be easy to fix for YouTube. They have the content, now just fix the GUI.
Great app but it’s missing one thing 4/5
All around a great app but if it had a dark mode theme throughout the app instead of just while watching stuff then it would be 5/5 stars.
Service: good. App: TERRIBLE 2/5
The service is pretty nice. Reasonably priced. Good channel selection. The app on the other hand? Awful. ESPECIALLY the app on the AppleTV. Things that are missing from both the phone and AppleTV:
1) Picture in Picture: this is TV 101. How this is missing I have no idea.
2) Fine tune FFWD control. You try to skip a commercial on a game and the scrubber jumps around on you.
3) Flashback: it’s cumbersome to flip back and forth between two channels you’re watching.
These things really need to be fixed.
Top notch service 5/5
This is hands down the best streaming TV service out there. Great channel lineup, live local networks and FREE unlimited DVR!
Some pros and some cons 3/5
By just there
Pro is the price and ease of recording shows. However I find the app finicky and touchy. The buffer is too long when rewinding or fast forwarding. It would be better to have the fast forward be at least 30 seconds to avoid commercials. I wish there more channels offered like HGTV, Hallmark and PBS. Overall I’m saving a lot so I supplement this with other streaming apps.
Really wish I could select “new shows only” instead of my library filling up with reruns. Also despise the play button on movie titles...a play button implies I can push the button and it will play the movie
Love YouTube TV 4/5
I love the fact that I can get The Fox network with Youtube TV. My only complaint is that I can’t connect my YouTube TV on my 3-4 year old Visio Smart TV. I just wish I could record off Antenna TV.
Great Start; solid performance; needs key iPad features 3/5
By Tom Gravy
Overall this App works really well and the service is solid! To get 5 stars:
- iPad PiP support (really.. come on!)
- iOS background audio
- YouTube TV as a system-wide TV Provider! (Sling has it..)
I quit DirecTV NOW as a customer from day one because they were being shady with promo-pricing. Came to YouTube TV.. almost Sling due to the TV Provider capability.
Please add the three items above if you want to keep receiving my $$ :)
Very good but... 4/5
Can’t figure out what next beyond next and in what channel
Great solution for cord cutters 5/5
Love, love, love the app. The ability to add sports teams and favorite shows and movies is very convenient. Works great with a chrome cast to throw shows up on a TV, plus our 4K TV has the app on it.
Pretty, Pretty Good 4/5
I enjoy this service. I think there are too many sports channels as related to the rest of the channels, but I believe this will be fixed as the service grows and changes. The quality is good and I, personally, have never experienced any buffering. The app is mostly user friendly, but the only reason I gave four stars is because there are too many clicks to watch the program you want. I also wish I could scroll the guide into the future to see what was coming up. Overall, the service is fantastic and I look forward to what if brings in the future.
Recorded shows not working 2/5
Apple TV recordings not working. Not any form dvr vod etc.
shows play live. That’s it.
I love YouTube tv , it has everything I could ever watch for a fraction of what I was paying , 10 stars if it was possible
You don’t loose anything. Quality high, download fast. I hate when people with bad internet rate a company low for something that has nothing to do with nothing.
Worth every penny!
Great app, still is new 4/5
By Youtube T
I love the app and it easily replaces cable. The reason why I can’t give it 5 stars is because it does not have a lot of channels and I think they can tweak the interface some to make it more user friendly.
Works sometimes 2/5
Spent all weekend watching heavily pixelated nfl football. Can’t blame the ISP because I was in two different locations. It’s just not ready for prime time or sports. There are many things to like about the service but not for sports fans. I will be looking for a new streaming service.
Good, could be better 4/5
It’s a good app and easy to navigate. Being able to forward/rewind is nice but 15 sec increments could be improved. Also, seeing “what’s next” could be more fluid.
By youtube TV is a lie
Its a scam and its not true. It says it free when you have to pay every month
