Needs improvement 1/5
Since youtube TV went from $44.99/mo to the $64.99/mo price point, the app has been glitching worse than ever.
The live pause/playback doesn’t work, the audio and video are often out of sync, and when you click to watch shows you’ve saved in your library, it plays an entirely different show or episode, with the playback bar frozen and glitching, leaving you unable to fast forward/rewind. Everything is messed up. This is absolutely not worth $65/mo.
Google continues to raise the price every year without proving why it’s worth the surcharges and providing worse service. If these issues aren’t addressed, it won’t make sense to continue to pay for it.
Switc accounts 2/5
By Ball Game
I’m having the hardest time trying to set up multiple accounts on this thing. Not the app as much as my TV but they tell me to use the app set it up and I can’t figure it out. I’m pretty text savvy but this is not as easy as Hulu or Netflix
I hate this app 1/5
It won’t let you watch anything
Crashes and no UI on full screen 2/5
New subscriber. This app is pretty terrible considering it comes from Google/YouTube. Other than annoying ads, I never have issues with YouTube on either iOS, tvOS or web.
This though... watch a show or channel in full screen - after a few minutes, the UI basically is non-responsive. The video keeps playing but touch the screen - no button show up. Minimize the app and go back - the app crashes.
That’s the bug.
As for the iOS app design. Give us a guide. A useful one where we can scroll across and see what’s going to be on multiple channels later. TvOS has it (as do FuboTV, ATT TV, etc.) - why not this???
Now over priced like cable/satellite companies 👎🏾
Buggy, no matter how many updates 1/5
Just a horrible, embarrassment of an app. How many employees does Google have? Not quite enough to ship a functioning iPad app, apparently. They need to hire an intern to come in after school on Tuesdays so they can at least ship the bare minimum acceptable app.
Probably the most expensive live stream app on the market 2/5
Very expensive and a lot of adds ... 2 stars because of a lot of channels and unlimited recording though
YouTube Doesn’t stream on most devices 1/5
This is my third review, probably will delete this one too.
Relies on WiFi, you can’t use WiFi on any of the devices if you use youtubetv.
YouTubetv has a streaming problem, it will buffer only and not stream at most times
$60 for 5 channels, it doesn’t work or stream most of them are sports. Good luck streaming
Skipping episodes 3/5
The “Up Next” feature always plays episodes way later in the seasons. I’m on episode 23 of DBS and it keeps saying episode 131 is up next
Es una porquería antes la amaba y ahora me decepciona esta app basura
Someone tell me how to get premium
3.5 Stars. Pretty good 3/5
I was hesitant to try due to the cost luckily I was able to get a free month from my ISP. With that said the app and services overall are pretty nice good channel selection (Missing the History Channel). Would like to see more on-demand movies and tv shows. Would be nice to have picture-in-picture option this app cost too much not to have it. Also when mirroring or connecting to larger screen via hdmi screen needs to be converted to full sized to match the larger screen. App is pretty good just a few minor details that have been missed hopefully the developers read this and make those additions.
No sound 2/5
Worked great when we first subscribed 2 months ago. Now loosing sound every few minutes, for SEVERAL, minutes. A few words in and it looses sound again. Sits and buffers 3-4 times per hour. Also, a pain to navigate.
Too many commercials 3/5
Im old enough to remember when the sales pitch for “cable” ( which is now turning to streaming)over broadcast TV was that since we the people were paying for the broadcast ( now the streaming) we would not have ANY COMMERCIALS. In no time cable caught on and while the movie channels have for the most part kept to this promise. The networks abc cbs nbc fox msnbc cnn that we get through YOUTUBE TV have more commercials than they do news segments. That’s understandable that YOUTUBE TV cannot change the network policies. However We CANNOT DUE TO YOUTUBE TV’s set up. Fast forward or skip through these 8 to 12 commercials per segment. I would suggest to YOUTUBE TV that they take a stand and allow ITS CUSTOMERS to fast forward or skip the commercials. I for one would consider this a positive step to stop cluttering the news in this pandemic election year with unwanted commercials. Those that want to watch them are free to do so. Thank you.
Constantly going out of sync 3/5
I love most things about YouTube TV. Lots of channels, local included, and easy to work with. However numerous times a day the sound goes out of sync with the livestream. I have to go to another channel to get it back in track. I’ve done all the updates, even uninstalled and reinstalled the app again and it still happens. It usually happens after YouTube inserts a commercial break screen with some music but it can happen at other times. It also happens on both the Firestick and Apple TV. If this could get fixed I’d say it was well worth the money. But I’m starting to look at other streaming services.
Great TV service, but too expensive 2/5
I only watch some sports occasionally. I don’t really need the shows and news. Why there is no a cheaper tier with less channels?
Not great 1/5
Good idea but the app has tons of bugs. Success rate to streaming to my Apple TV is 10 percent max. Huge price hike for crummy product that was already overpriced.
No keeping the video playing if you open another app 2/5
No fast forward during commercials. Other apps like Comcast do this.
No keeping video playing when you open a browser or mail window. Most other apps do this.
Price increase from $50 to $65!
User Preferences Not Kept and Deleted Reviews 1/5
Your recent change for AppleTV app to no longer keep the hardset quality for playback on all channels and force it back to Auto with each channel change is absolute crap! If you’re oversubscribed, then that’s your problem. It’s already bad enough you’re raising rates every couple of months on the regular for channels nobody wants or watches! Let the user at least enjoy their programming without you finding ways to neuter it in one way or another.
Also, STOP deleting negative app reviews!!! You app and this service is a joke the more you charge for it and the more you try and limit the user’s ability to stream a high quality stream!!!
Love the navigation and recording function 5/5
Tried several TV apps. Like how you navigate the channels in YouTube TV. Also gotta love the recording ability (will record it when scheduled and/or the PPV version with commercials as a second option)
Why adds? 3/5
Awesome app, great tv channels, but why do I have to watch adds when I’m a paid subscriber. I could understand one or two, maybe even three, but when a “commercial break” on a tv show is 8 adds long... that’s just way over the top. I’d give it more stars if they could get rid of all adds.
IPhone App Missing Guide 2/5
I wish there was a guide in the iPhone app to see future airings like on Apple TV app. Right now, you can only see what is live. Please add this feature.
Frustrating and confusing 1/5
I was trying to use my debit card for the free trial but it wasn’t working, then I searched if you could use a debit card for YouTube tv and it said no. Please remove the option for a debit card if you can’t use it.
Price increase during pandemic 1/5
Increase in price for channels I didn’t want makes this no longer an option for cord cutting
Terrible auto quality mode on iOS 2/5
An iOS device is auto quality screen mode starts at 1080p or 720p but quickly switches down to 480p or even 240p. My Samsung tv keeps the quality at 1080p the entire stream. Both are running on the same internet 400/400mbps fiber internet.
The only workaround is to manually set the quality on the iOS devices to 1080p or 720p.....it does keep the screen quality excellent, however it introduces CC captions that I did not ask for and have no way of turning off. I have checked my CC settings and it is clearly marked OFF. When toggling it to the ON position it now has 2 CC captions playing on the screen. I can still only turn one on and the other forever stays on.
This is extremely disappointing and sad. Apparently this was complained on a thread a few years ago and it appears Google/YouTube still hasn’t addressed the situation.
Not streaming on Apple TV v.1 1/5
By Not again2
Was working great and now for past 24 hours not able to cast stream from my iOS to Apple TV v1. Streaming for other apps works so must be YouTube TV bug ? I’ve reset, deleted app, reinstalled, etc. Help !
Total scam do not purchase 1/5
Good luck trying to get out of this subscription
Too expensive 1/5
I’m paying over $70 a month. It was cheaper at first, cheaper by $20 and now it’s creeped up to $70 with tax and fees. Why did I get YouTube TV if I was paying the same amount with xfinity???! At least with xfinity, you could watch your shows or movies on the app via your phone or tablet and the app allowed you to play the videos in the background when you were on their app.......YouTube TV’s app doesn’t let the videos play in the background and so you’re stuck on the YouTube tv app and you can’t do anything else on your device because the video’s will stop playing the second you “leave” the app aka no “play video in background” support!!! For YouTube tv to have zero features that xfinity has....why would I stay with YT TV?? ITS ridiculous! The crazy uphill climb that continues to climb as we speak in their monthly prices, the lack of “basic” features like “play video in background” capabilities, the lack of any kind of specials or special benefits for YT TV subscribers, and no other Special Unique features or benefits for being a YT TV sub for a whopping $70 a month?!...I already pay $20+ a month for YT premium and being a YT premium member doesn’t do anything for you on YT TV...There is ZERO benefit or connection to your YT Premium account and so you still get TV Ads in YT TV unlike YT premium which automatically removes all of the ads on ALL of the videos on YT...!!! And so here I am complaining via the reviews and I hope this helps someone else because right now I am not happy about this! I’m not going to continue to pay almost $100 a month for YOUTUBE TV and YOUTUBE PREMIUM!!!! Subscribing to YT TV is not worth it. Find another provider or a promotional price for all your entertainment needs!!! Maybe that way you can actually save some of your hard earned coin and go spend it elsewhere!!! This subscription Is Very unpractical and I’ll be here for one more month...& then 👋🏼! 😄
Some thoughts 3/5
We started when it was $40 a month. All cord cutting reviews were pointing to YouTube TV as a game changer. Now it is $50. Soon it will be $69 for us, for the new users it is now - thank you for an extended grace period. We will walk away.
I understand added channels but family doesn’t need them. The whole package doesn’t make sense to me.
We watch occasionally. Local news with the weather update (which I can get with antenna), thanks to the Congress 1996. And live sports - NHL to be specific ((I plan to buy a content through the app and play it on Xbox). Yes, I can save.
I briefly disconnected in the beginning of 2020 when found that the team my kids were following is not in the package anymore. The Synclair deal. Why I learned about it from the web? Why it was not clearly communicated?
Temporarily disconnected was also because the delay with the Covid. No live sports.
Yet, we started over.
Interesting fact - when crossing a northern border, the content didn’t work. That was an unpleasant experience. You still were charging me.
I understand the TV corps realized that this is 2020 and the cable is dead. Negotiations are tougher. Programming gets expensive. Adds being added. Nobody canceled the capitalism. And the big buck.
- The flexible packaging can help. Ask users what they need and what they will pay for.
- If someone travels internationally the content that was paid should play. Or make it refundable.
- The users are asking about extra adds but there is (a surprise) no response from you.
- The DVR - I don’t need it unlimited. You can care about the world with less servers and the water you are consuming to cool off your (Google) data centers. It applies to other big ones. It is important.
- The big data, the analytics. That’s what drives the cost for us, the consumers. The problem is I don’t want to consume that content. And I will stop paying you for that. Maybe your algorithm knows that. But I don’t care :)
- Listen to the users, don’t be a corporate jerk. Respond (despite it may not always sounds positive or nice as you’d expect). Try to learn and adjust as we users do (see above).

Formally great app, now it never works 1/5
I use the iPad and Apple TV YouTube TV app and while I love the service the app freezes ALL THE TIME. I’ve re-downloaded the app more times than I can’t count. I used go watch all the time but now I’ll likely cancel because the app is so unreliable
Not great 3/5
By Jake Lacroix
YouTube TV is good it has alot of great channels. But there are many bad things. Whenever they add channels the cost jumps 20% and is to expensive for what it is. Also my WiFi is perfectly fine but takes 3-5 minutes to load and it is not fun to deal with.
Regret Switching to This Service 1/5
The DVR only works a fraction of the time. My live channel is constantly defaulting to obnoxious sportscasters who are practically yelling at me. I really regret this decision.
No longer works. 2/5
It was great up until last Thursday (30 July 2020). It just stopped working all together. All I get now is “your account has limited access. Please sign in from your home area - or update - to continue”. I have updated my location and it still does not work. I sent an email out to customer service the same day and have yet to hear back as well as performed the steps as recommended help guide and still not success.
Subscription price increase for junk channels 1/5
I was hoping that google would be more customer centric and allow users to pick the channels they want. Now they are adding more content and another price increase. I left ATT for the same reason. I do not want these channels!!!
Charged me 2 days into my “free week preview” 1/5
Avoid this dishonest service. I signed up for the free 7 day trial on Friday and today (Sunday) I was charged for a full month. I got the notification from my bank this morning that I was charged 70 freaking dollars. Now, I have to fill out a form to try to get that money back. I already didn’t like the interface and the price is too high, so if there was a chance of me using them before, Google did a great job of destroying that.
I’ve never seen the end of a show... 2/5
I am new to this service, but I’ve yet to be able to see an entire show. When I get to the part after the final commercial break, the screen goes black, the channel logo comes up, and the show starts over, but the progress bar continues on as if it didn’t have a care in the world. If I drag the progress bar, the thumbnail that pops up shows what I *should* be seeing. Nothing I do fixes it. If I force quit, I can’t find the show again to retry it. Is there a history tab I’m missing?? Seriously, I just want to know which house they bought.
Interface is clunky. You cannot record just one show, you must record a series. They recently added 8 new worthless channels and boosted the price 15 bucks. Streaming services need to understand that customers want LESS channels. Why pay for ones you don’t watch?
Use Pluto instead of this 1/5
This is not free, Pluto tv is free and gives you more show options
Price hike 2/5
I believe this is the best tv platform. Unfortunately, they add channels and jack up the price instead of offering tiers. Jumping up $15 when times are more difficult puts them at the same shady level as traditional cable tv. Pretty disappointing.
Not easy to use 2/5
I like YouTube Tv because they have alot of channels, a little more than Hulu Live but the navigation is so difficult to use definitely could do a better job, I’ll stick with Hulu live because of this!
Subtitle/quality setting bug 1/5
The video quality goes to crap when left on auto (I have Fios with over 200Mbps down). When I manually set the quality to 1080p, it has no trouble, so I don’t know why auto doesn’t stay at 1080. This wouldn’t be a problem except when I set it to 1080, subtitles show up even though they are set to “off”. I have to restart the app which puts the quality back to auto to get rid of them. This has been an issue with the app for over a year.
Was great now good... 3/5
Solid way to watch TV, but a big price increase recently for not a lot of value. Starts to make you question the value you’re getting for the money. Would have been much happier if they had included offline viewing with the price increase. Since they didn’t this app goes from a 4* to a 3*. I will move it to 5* if it gets offline viewing, but until then it is expensive at $65/mo. That plus high speed internet and we are back to where we were with the old cable bills...except now I don’t get a bundle “deal” having it all with one company.
Playback errors 3/5
Would be a great app if it would finish connecting to my Apple TV or stop restarting the program 34 minutes in every time. Would change my review if that could get fixed.
Best App 5/5
Love it 👍👍👍👍👍
Pilot user canceling after price hike 1/5
When I started using this it was nineteen bucks per month. At $60, YouTubeTV has become the chord it once sought to cut. I’m canceling after the baseball season.
LACK LUSTER APP AND EXPENSIVE. ZERO STARS 1/5
Whopping price increase for channels not even needed. location playback error constantly. service is more than cable.
Too expensive 2/5
No progression on DVR, I record two programs in a row, for some reason it will always switch to Nascar or the view or some other crap. Unlimited is great till you are trying to figure out what you have and havent watched.
Didnt mind the horrible UX till the price hike, I’m kind of glad to be cutting the cord again, I watched 3 or 4 channels at most and found a free option for my local channels!
Closed captioning goes off at the beginning of commercial breaks, you have to manually turn it back on each time the show resumes.
